But performance has to be improved! Running on RTX2060 + Ryzen 7600X + 32GB RAM and I get 1080p low 30fps with lots of lag (GPU sits at 100%, CPU at <15% load).
1. the rocks in the last section that border the area are very easy to pass through, plus there are also noticeable invisible borders, i think you should add ways for the player to not be able to enter places, not just a invisible border.
2. the dinosaur AI could be improved, plus add more (which i'm guessing you were going to do already) but you could add different species in the same stage and maybe some claustrophobic situation with the dino's, and maybe being able to enter the water with a submarine or dive suit would also be cool, introducing the Megolodon, the Mosisaurus (my spelling sucks on the dino's), and maybe other fun ones to add an aquatic factor and the ability for dino's to attack from above as well.
3. Probably stated before, the camera movement is not comfortable with the game play. maybe improve it but not by much, your onto something
4. idk if you are going in this direction, but the use of gore and violence depicting these ferocious beasts could be shown in great detail, actually showing the death of the guards that we hear or the use of less dangerous herbivores as a calm before the storm, or you can kill a graceful herbivore, like the Apatosaurus, being slaughtered by a carnivore.
5. acknowledge the save points pls, its really confusing where you re-spawn so i think a "game saved" text at one of the corners of the screen just to remind the player where you will re-spawn would be cool.
6. again, i don't know which direction you will take but in my opinion, the use of less lights to better the fog, also i don't think you should use the huge light sources ever, like lava or a huge fire, it would just completely change the vibe of the game.
&. accept my friend request pls, w game
I just got done playing the demo and I have to say that it's a very great concept and has a decent execution. However, I think a few more things need to be refined.
#1- Deaths: I died only once to the Therezinosaurus and was a little bit disappointed that I didn't get a cool death animation. I think that would be hella cool
#2- Gameplay: Other than the Therezinosaurus encounter, I didn't feel like I was really playing a demo. It felt more like I was just watching everything happen. I'm assuming that there will be more gameplay in the final product, but I just wanted to make a note of that
The map is a little confusing to navigate and with how the movement is, it felt way too slow. I would suggest either improving the stamina system or including a map of some sort
#3- The Dinosaurs: I think the dinos themselves were a great addition. Other than the Therezinosaurus (sorry I keep mentioning it, I really enjoyed that encounter) the encounters with the dinos felt a little too easy, like I was just blowing right past them. And there's also a little audio thing that happens when the Therezinosaurus while it's making a noise almost sounding like it's slowing down. That broke my immersion a little bit
Other than that, I think this game has amazing potential and with a decent bit of work on it, I think you're gonna create something great here
Then we need to discuss world borders. Having an area made inaccessible by a 1 dm high fence was fine in 1990, not now.
In the beginning there's an army vehicle blocking your path. There is plenty of room next to it to enter, but I still have to find someone that can move it for me. Then I hear a ding and get a message that the vehicle has been moved. By whom? I see vehicles with their lights on. One of them even honked at me. But there is no way to look inside or interact with them. Finding someone that can tell me what's going on would be top priority. Placing invisible unreachable NPCs is only frustrating.
Then I got lost among a bunch of containers that would be easily climbable in real life and quit. Will give it another go later when more development has been made. Keep up the good work.
first, positives:
- I like the atmosphere. It's really nice.
- The Gamedesign with the lightpole blinking on the place to go is great.
Some things I think are important:
- Please add options to disable the film grain
- Please add options to disable the Mouse Smoothing / Mouse Acceleration or whatever this is that lets the camera keep moving after I stop moving my mouse.
- Please add options to disable head bobbing.
All these things help people with motion sickness to better be able to play your game by making it more accessible. For this short time it was ok but I will not be able to play the finished game if this is not adressed.
Some less important things:
- The flashlight is nearly useless. Please make it a bit brighter so you can actually see something with it.
- Why do you use an invisible wall after the heli-crash? If there is a big, scary sound in front of the player, let them walk back.
- After the time travel the lights are flickering in the facility. This flickering only starts after the cutscene which is weird. Please make it also flicker in the cutscene.
- The Sounds are ok but it often sounds hardcut when they end.
- I like weeping angels in horror-games but I don't really understand the concept of it in a big dinosaur. Which big dinosaur only moves when no one looks at it? Also it kinda sounds like a tape that gets sped up or down.
- The heavy breathing sound when exhausted is too loud compared to the other sounds in my opinion. Please turn it down or give it its own volume slider.
All in all I really like the demo. There are many Dino-Horror-Games coming out right now but they are rarely good. I have a good feeling about your game. It definitely left a good first impression. I hope you keep improving on it. And I hope my feedback helps :)
1-The fog is a little to much . i got a ryzen 7 5800x - Amd radeon Rx 6700xt- and 32 gb of ram and i was still stuttering cause the fog lag and people with lower end pc might wanna play it but cant
2-you need some type of compass or somethings and a stamina bar or some type of indication
3- i feel like you should be able to hide from the dinos like thery if your behind a container or something
4-you need like a task spot where people can see what they have to do next . and you can toggle it on and off so it wont be in the way of the game play
-used the personell jack lift to get on top of tank at beginning of game and start and progress without asking soldier to move
-stuck and had to reset game on medical tables after rapidly crouching
-able to exit starting elevator and crouch-glitch on the top of it as it goes down, have to reset to fix
-rapidly crouching at compy's prevents them from hurting player
I had a lot of fun on this demo.
The camera movements were awesome, I think the fog was a bit to much on my eyes, I had to concentrate to much to see but overall I can't wait for the full release.
I can't wait to see what you do next with this game and other projects.
***Dog, this game is FIRE! Don't let any negativity get you down. Absolutely loved playing it.***
A few areas that could be in need of improvement that I noticed:
When you escape from the don't look away dinosaur he will follow you and clip into the fence and glitch a lot inside and outside of the fence.
Did you mean to say sensibility instead of sensitivity for the settings?
Add in a controls menu to the settings, I had no idea I had a flashlight until I happened to notice when I pressed ESC the controls where in the top right corner.
Maybe include the fact that you can sprint backwards somewhere? I had no idea and it would have helped me out with the don't look away dino if I had known earlier.
If you can, a voice for the character would be a great addition to the text!
Being told to find a guard to talk to and then having the truck that was blocking my path randomly move was kind of weird. Where did it even go? Not sure what an alternative could be but I think that could be a little cleaner.
Any sort of animation or cutscene for the time travel/procedure would add a nice touch!
Adding in noises for the little chicken dinosaurs would be neat, maybe a little screech or something.
I noticed you have different noises for footsteps on different terrains, maybe a noise for the wood planks you walk across or even the gravel hill by the little dinos would be nice. I only noticed concrete vs forest footstep noises.
I really like the minimal HUD, I think it adds to the ambiance but maybe a small stamina bar would be helpful.
Showing a dinosaur crash into the helicopter would be neat!
Having a random button on a room unlock a gate seems a little silly, maybe have it be a key on a hook inside the room? Or a key card grabbed off a dead body that gives clearance for the gate or something like that?
Your lore/writing on walls and other things seems to be very unintelligible and it would be neat if there was some ability to learn something from it. For example, in the initial bunker there is a computer screen that's blank, maybe a paragraph or two about the experiment on the computer in an email or something. On the chalkboard there were a lot of various symbols but I could not make out any that made sense, maybe just some general equations or text could be nice!
Not sure if this would be possible, but co-op would be neat! Especially if it was a work together type of game similar to the style of "It Takes Two" in terms of needing to work together.
It seems stupid, but being able to jump would be nice, lol.
Fire animations seemed good but the lighting from it felt off.
Pilot in the crashed chopper looked to be clipping into the frame but that could have been him impacting it.
Areas that I really enjoyed:
The carnotaurus I think/dinosaur in the tunnel eating something was really cool looking!
The Quetzalcoatl I think/first flying dinosaur was soooOOO cool!!!
General ambiance and lighting animation was well done!
I tried to see if the shadows were realistic and they seemed to alter with my position from the lighting which was great!
The tiny dino having a large shadow was stellar.
Staying true to the general shape and look of the dinosaurs was great to see.
Having variety and seeing lesser known dinosaurs was sooooOOOO refreshing! Please keep showing us more dinosaurs that aren't the traditional ones seen in media!
The audio had a great feel to it and felt natural.
Seriously, super cool game and I look forward to playing the final product! Best of luck on your development journey <3
The whole idea and concept is very unique and I love it!
