You can access the different stations by leveling up in the open-world or by completing all of the arenas in each station.
Personally, I think the most fun and efficient way to play the game is to try and beat the arenas as early as possible.
For example, I will choose to go into a level 5 arena while I'm still level 3. I'm guaranteed to get level 5 upgrades from the enemies I kill. That's perfect. I don't mind if I die as long as I kill 5 or 6 of them first. I'll also get level 7 upgrades as a reward if I beat it.
So I level up while trying to beat arenas most of the time. I'll go grind a level or two in the open-world only if the next available arena is seriously kicking my butt.
One final tip, if you are taking on arenas early. Make sure to find and accept the docking-bay Tasks that ask you to beat the arenas. In the example above, if I take a task to beat a level 5 arena, and I beat it while I'm still level 3, the cash reward for the task is enough to buy a couple of extra level 5-6 upgrades.
Arenas are the fastest way to level up if you have the skill to beat them early.
I did that after the 1st station. It just feels right to go beat the arenas (and thanks for adding docks near the entrances). I just wanted to know if the lvl x, y, z challenges will always have the same layout. It would be perfect for speed runs and playing in higher difficulties.
Speed running was on my mind while designing the content, difficulty, and rewards for the arenas. For example most players take 5-10 hours to beat the first station on their first play through, but it's possible to beat it in 45 mins. This could probably be pushed closer to 30 mins with practice.
I think as soon as someone starts posting speed runs for each station others will join in. It's something I'd love to see.
