This story is canon so if they say its a virus, then its a virus.

Fella the game doesn't out canon the original film as much as you probably hope it does.

John Carpenter did not write the story Who Goes There, which was what The Thing was almost entirely based off. In Who Goes There, it is an alien organism, not a virus.

When my studio launches I am proposing contacting Carpenter to see if he would consider making a proper sequel game to the movie with my team under the title "Who Goes There" instead.

I spoke with Mark Atkinson (Computer Artworks) through email, he admits himself the game was rushed and they were planning to do better for the sequel.
Literally nobody cares.

Yet you replied. So one person cares enough.

It's funny because most people and true fans of the film hated the game. You'd think you would want to be loyal to your fan base instead of catering to a small minority that liked a mediocre game.
Correct, John is the only guy who have the final say.

This is cannon!

I still have the original dvd version. Great game. Remaster should be good as well I'm hoping. Nice to see that it hasn't been forgotten.

I mean, he DID approve of the game and gave it his blessing. He's even in it with a cameo as a scientist(replaces the combat medic in that particular section of levels) and has VA work in it and his face model.

Cannons shoot things that explode. This game exploded alright, and there's ♥♥♥♥ everywhere.

My theory has always been that some fan somewhere found him hungover at a convention, signing autographs with one hand while chain smoking with the other, and asked him about the game. He glanced up at them and went
"Huh? Game? Oh yea, sure, it's canon, whatever." and went back to smoking.

He's legendary for not giving a ♥♥♥♥ about most things, and changing his mind about movie details lmao.
I personally don't really care either way, because it was a really cool game regardless of canon or whatever. I'll probably pick this up at some point in the future, because I remember having a blast with it back in the day.

I wasn't aware that Mr. Carpenter had as much involvement in the game as is posted here. If that's the case it makes things even more awesome and as such in fact does make it canon, even though certain people for some reason think otherwise.

This is exactly how it played out. He was just happy a The Thing game was made so he didn't care if the lore was accurate or not so he labelled it as "canon".

The prequel movie also has a line spoken from the main scientist character “it’s like a virus”
So regarding this remaster that came out of the blue, at least to me, does this means that they are planning to make the cancelled sequel?

The idea of an oil rig looked interesting. Shame it got cancelled but maybe the remaster is meant to fund a possible sequel?

Not gonna lie, the sequel looked promising so I would much rather prefer that instead.

You're quoting the prequel...
