The only time the movies score was used was in the original trailer - so the original team had the rights to it for that trailer release but didn't have the rights to use it in the game.
You can't mod licenced music into a game - that would be piracy.
Bro, you never used mod i think. Modding is illegal in the first place, since you're breaking ToU (since you alter the product and thus is illegal)
We still do it, because it's the norm and most devs doesn't really give much attention to it.
Modding is certainly not illegal. Distributing copyrighted music, however, is definitely illegal per the DMCA. I'm not weighing in on whether or not it's right, but that's the way it is.
I mean, modding still is copyright infringement. Devs don't want to punish it because..
1. they don't think it's bad
2. because it adds replayability
3. because it's free.
Music mod is illegal as much as it is for modding. the only different is that music mods break two laws (copyright infringement and DMCA)
Anyway, who cares just mod the game the way you want. except if you're streaming it on twitch that's gonna give you issues.
Doesn't matter if it's commercial, what matters is if you're distributing it to others.
Modded lots of times the problem comes with distributing licenced music freely, you can't do it.
That's unlawful.
