No new graphic - no remastered
No... i have to say: i played it when i was 15/16. More than 20 years have passed. I was a little hyped by the trailers; but it is the same game with bad and clunky controls and bad AI. but seriously... no new graphics since 2002? i am a fan of the 50s film, carpenter and so on. But this is huge disappointing in my opinion. I remember a good begin of the game with intensity, horror and thrill, but then it became very messy and repetitive in the middle

Well, technically that's all a Remaster is. A Remake is new graphics. Although i agree. It would have been cool to have updated graphics.

It sounds like you’re conflating "remaster" with "remake." This is a remaster, featuring visual upgrades like dynamic lighting, improved textures for characters and environments, better shadows, and some gameplay updates to the trust/fear system to make it more user-friendly. It’s the same game, just polished, not a full overhaul. Maybe some day we'll see a complete remake in the future depending on how well this game fares.

What exactly are you expecting if you knew and remembered the thing being such a game, why bother to follow only a modern remaster.

Yeah a reboot is completely new, but unrelated to this project.

I'll give you a brief rundown of each:

Reboot: A fresh start for a franchise, often reimagining the story, characters, and setting while discarding previous continuity to the original.
Remake: A new version of an older work, created from scratch but aiming to replicate or modernise the original.
Remaster: An updated version of the original, improving visuals, sound, or performance but keeping the core content and structure of the original intact.

yeah exactly, giant missed opportunity, a total remake like the new Dead Space would have been amazing, game has tons of potential.

remaster is kinda neat but this needed a full remake after all these years…

its 2024 and people still dont know what the difference is between remaster and remake.

Then you clearly have no concept of what a remaster does.

Bad AI eh? So you have played the remaster I guess?

How many hours have you logged? Please post proof you have played it.

Oh that's right you're basing your crap off a trailer.

Though I can’t speak to the Assets themselves (3D models, textures, etc.) it does look like there has been work done to the lighting and shaders that make those assets look nicer than the original game release… as is the case with many other ND remasters.

Would I love a remake - yes, but you’re talking about a niche early 2000s survival horror game that didn’t sell particularly well at the time. Even accounting for the popularity of the film, I don’t think a remake first (or even an entirely new game) was ever in the cards.
