Problem with the Culture Insights videos
When I'm playing and appears those "Press back to watch this video" then I press it, the game stops. Or even when I press to watch the Culture Insights the video stays in a black screen, only with game sounds. The video and audio does not appear at all. At first, it was everything fine, but then the cutscenes and the video about their lifes stopped.

Anyone knows how to configure the game or the video pluggin? I wanna play the game watching everything...

Well Horseman, I found the problem! It was the LAV plugin. I unistalled and reinstalled, then the bug fixed.

I will try the LAV plugin thing, I am running into the same problem--I cannot play any of the videos.

Thanks! Worked for me too, in my case I didn't have LAV filters installed. (Open-Source DirectShow Media Splitter and Decoders) I went to the official site and grabbed the latest installer from the top. Installed it, leaving everything checked (wasn't sure what type of video file it would need an association for to play it in game and I wasn't worried about changing them back to what I like later--that's pretty easy).

Here's where I found the LAV filters:

Had the very same problem. Installed the LAV Filters and it worket perfectly! Feels like it should've been mentioned that you needed them or include them as an optional install.

They are included automatically as part of the installation process. Sometimes other media filters trump its ability to play MP4 video files.

They are included in the game folder and you can find them here too:
C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\common\NeverAlone\Codecs

I can confirm my system did not automatically install them. Win 7 x64. Steam client beta.

Have you tried going through the process of verifying integrity of game cache (Library -> Right click "Never Alone" -> Properties -> Local Files -> Verify integrity of game cache) and then re-running the game to see if you're presented with the LAV installation? If not, here's the github link[github.com] to the more updated releases - Never Alone uses "LAV Filters 0.62.0"

Thanks

I also have this problem. (Win 7 x64) I will try this LAV thing. But in my opinion this should be fixed by the devs.
Especially in a Game where the videos are a core element!

Interesting. Will have to look into that.

No problem, I don't think it is related to the beta though. The game did install the first play things defined in the script for the game but LAV filters were not part of those for some reason. Sorry that I can't be more help then that, uninstalling the game doesn't uninstall the things installed on first play (and afterwards in my case) so I don't have any way to test again--as lav filters will stay installed.

Did you have any other media players or devices installed, like VLC or something that may have had priority over playing MP4s?

Of course we do. You know it's a personal computer and we need a player to play movie.

Why do the hundreds other games work perfectly? And only yours needs to install 3rd party applications and didn't compatible to usual applications like VLC?
