Star drops for no reason!?

I bought players with 3.5 stars. They are good players, sometimes they have 4 stars. they are happy in training and play on a regular basis. It lasts 8-36 month, but then they lose 1-1.5 stars within short time for no reason. they are still under 27 years and have no attribute drops. only the stars drops.
can anyone explain me why this is? it's really annoying and frustrating.

Star ratings are based on how good your coaches judgement is, and how good your squad is. They are only meant as a rough guide, and will change regularly based on a number of factors.

still, a drop from 3.5 to 2 within 3-4 month, thats crazy.
is there something like longterm form?

Did you sign any really good players in that time? Are you managing at a high level? Are your coaches ability to judge PA and CA reall good?

Mine doesn't drastically change, maybe half a star to a whole star but my assistants PA and Ca abiltiy is maxed out :)

It's probably do to a change in your club's stature. The stars given to players are always relative to the stature of your club, so if you are a smaller club a certain player might be given 4 stars, at a bigger club that same player might only be a 3 star player. If you are doing fairly well in your save, then you are likely raising the club's stature and in turn changing the star rating for your players.

Although, 3.5 to 2 is a pretty drastic change for a 3-4 month period. Did you win a number of trophies or something?

I always thought the "star" rating was a comparison with your current squad. So if you scout a player in season 1 and he returns a 3-4 star rating thats compared to your current set-up. If you signed 4.5-5 star player in that time his star rating will drop because you have a new high benchmark. I could be wrong but that's how I've always looked at it.

Actually, I think you might be correct. I had heard/read somewhere that it was relative to club stature, but I just Googled it and the results suggest it is relative to your current squad (they don't mention anything about club stature). Google results aren't exactly definitive, but I think I was wrong in saying it is tied to club stature.

Or did you just go up the table? I remember back in FM2013, my goalkeeper dropped from 4 stars to 2.5 as my team went from low mid-table to the playoffs- so I don't think you necessarily have to win something for stars to go down, just be in higher company (your coach sees the strength of goalkeepers in teams aroung you and realises that your goalkeeper, or any other player, is worse than them). Don't know if it's changed since then, though.

oh the stars are relative? well that would explain it. i win very much (increasing stature) and i sign very good players every saison. when my players droped last time, i signed 3 very good players (4.5-5 stars).

I had the same on FM2014 with AC Milan. Had Christante who was a four star drop to a 3 because I bought Luis Suarez in. That's what tipped me off initially.

I think it goes of Form as well, cause on my Man UTD save.

James ward Prowse has scored like 4 goals in 4 games and is now a 3.5 star when he was 2 star.

and Pogba on other hand has decreased because of poor form 4 to 3 star.

But all there states stay the same, just the star jumps up and down.

And then when you check the information tab example Pogba, the stars say he is 3 star but by position he is 4 star for MC.

And this is mid season random drops, and i have not signed any new players or promoted any from reserves.

i stoped playing fm15, then i played fm16 and then fm18. but now i'm definitely done with fm because its repetitive.

All good i still play fm15, cause it;s the only one i own and the newer ones don't have any real good features, plus there are heaps of other great steam games.

i ve been through this. do you have multiple world class players? i use in game editor to edit my assistant manager to have 20 potential and 20 current level , when i have multiple world class players, some tend to get 2 stars instead of 3 or 4, 2 stars = world class player now, because there are so many world class players on my current team.

either this, or they are simply at the end of their potential and havent had enough playtime, but you said you gave them alot of playtime during 36 months right?

its hard to remember after 4 years, but the reason was most likely because i signed a really good player. the best player has always 4.5-5 stars and the other players are relativ to the best player. thats why all player lost stars.
