Virus found Win32/Heim in fm.exe
Hi There.

On validating my Steam install of FM 2015 AVG has poped up claiming fm.exe to be infected with Win32/Heim.

I'm working on the assumption that this must be a false detection?

Has anyone else had this issue?

I have got this same issue on every version of football manager from 2012, through to FM2015 whilst using Steam, ive tried uninstalling and reinstalling all and the same virus is detected on all within the fm.exe, it also claims the severity to be HIGH, having looked up what Win32/Heim virus is supposed to be it claims on net that it is to do with hackers, so for the time being I have uninstalled all FM games, which I find very frustrating and irritating to say the least, and this is why when I buy a game i would rather not have to come onto something such as steam to play it, i'd rather play offline as you used to be able to with FM games, and you could join the forum for patches, considering the amount of money we pay for these games, I hope someone finds out whether this threat is real or not, as i am not putting any of my devices at risk to being hacked. I am also using the latest version of AVG.

Win/Heim
Win/Heim is a malicious software that once it is exceuted has the capability of replicating itself and infect other files and programs. These type of malware, called Viruses, can steal hard disk space and memory that slows down or completely halts your PC. It can also corrupt or delete data, erase your hard drive, steal personal information, hijack your screen and spam your contacts to spread itself to other users. Usually, a Virus is received as an attachment on an email or instant message.Win/Heim is currently ranked 222 in the world of online malware.

this is what it says about the virus that is showing as attached to any FM game i have in my steam online library, I have scanned my laptop and pc, and neither has anything on it, only when i try to download and install using steam does it appear??

I agree totally with you Stewart, Also the advice on how to make FM2015 work is uninstall your good antivirus program and install an average antivirus program which will not pick up the threat, so therfore can play the game. I love all the FM games, but wont be playing 2015, unless this issue is fixed in a proper manner. :(

most of the world stopped using AVG a long long time ago when even stuff like MSE became much better. Do you seriously think FM.exe has a virus? Either one of the most popular and played games on steam has a virus attached or your using a bad anti virus tool , which one you think it is?

Haha your are idiots. First, Download Nod32 Antivirus + Mailwaresbytes. Or if you dont want to delelete avg. Then try a free scan onlinne. Playing from 2009 version. No virus ever found in steam original games

Thanks Billy for you constructive critisism and i agree that i can't imagine that that FM would ever contain a harmful virus, Unfortunately i have been on the wrong end of viruses too many times hence my sceptisism, i have never had this issue with FM 2009>2014 which is why when i saw it on FM 2015 it rang alarm bells. i will give it a go thanks to your comments re: having faith in this great game, weighing up the two options you mentioned leads me to believe that is will be ok. kind regards

NonstopNL, takes one to know one buddy, and anyone who starts a conversations with an insult can go shove it where the sun don't shine so i suggest that if you try to advise people or assist them in an issue you do so in a polite manner, otherwise any input u have means Zero, and even if it was the way to work things i wouldn't and wont consider any of your bitter, disrespectful garbage.

This has been reported on the SI forums and confirmed as a false positive.
