I think it's the rich terrain features that make them feel smaller, even though their the same soze as wh maps.
Well I played Troy pretty lot and now I see the same maps, just copies of the maps from Troy
AFAIK TW WH have all game tiles attached to a map. And attached maps are from pre-set. So war grounds are based on both pre set and location.
That's a bummer... I always liked how they used to reflect WHERE the two armies made contact. That felt great from an immersion perspective.
In Pharaoh, like in Troy, battlemaps are super small for my taste.
From my understanding yes, though one can affectvthe scaling of units. I haven't checked, but if one scaled down units they would be smsller on the map, giving the illusion of bigger maps. Dunno, but could imagine it varies from game to game.
The 4x4 and 6x6 map size is from one of the Dynasties dev diaries.
Here's the battle map diary. Don't remeber where I saw the devs mention that the 4x4 is the default for wh etc. too. Though someone with proper googling skills will most likely find it too.
