Just Survive
Can Hackers Ever Be Stopped in PC Gaming?
I am both a console and pc gamer and recently have strongly considered building a new gaming pc. Probably GTX 980ti with a 34inch Ultrawide 3440x1440p monitor.

However, I am having real doubts about Pc Gaming due to the amount of Hackers every survival game has. I tried Rust, Dayz, H1Z1 and a few others and it seems like all survival games become infested with Hackers. I am curious if anyone who understands how people actually hack games can shed some light on this problem. Is the open nature of PC's what is making a game so open to hackers? Can this problem ever be stopped?

The consoles are limited in many ways. But when I launch Forza Horizon 2 on my Xbox One I know i can enter races where hackers wont be there.

The new wave of survival games are great. H1Z1 can be great. But is the platform doomed to always have hackers ruining the experience?

To be believe you can play Forza Horizon 2 (as well as any other console game) and never meet a “hacker” is naïve. A quick google search lists dozens of people talking about a “money hack / credit generator”. Hackers are not just prevalent on PC… Console games have their fair share too!

The best advice to reduce hackers is to play on servers with active admins. Which, let’s face it, is only really available on PC games.

Basic rule, if you’re on a server without active admins and see a hacker, change server!
No. Also there may not be blatant easy to detect hacks going on in your racing game, but there is definitely obvious hacks for console shooters. Last time I owned a console people fired scarab lasers, auto-head shotted, spawn with plasma on face, etc. Don't tell me they can't hack your little game box.

the main resionn more hackers onn pc is cuz it alot easyer than console onn pc u have all kinnd of codeing and progrims to ues on conntole u got do alot to it befor u can ues hacks that y there less onn connsole on pc u can get innto the game files easly work on codeinng a hack that allow u bypass the game securty
No, Hackers can never be "stopped". For every line of code that prevents hacking, there is another line of code out there, that can bypass the filter. The most we will ever be able to do, is patch known hack methods, until they make a new one. We'll always be 1 step behind. We can slow them, but we cannot stop them. Until we can design a self-evolving anti-cheat program (which won't happen for some time now), there will always be hackers.
Hackers can not be stoped just like terrorists can not be stoped its the price of freedom, either you agree to pay the price and enjoy the freedom or remove all freedom and live in safe prison.
It's possible, it's just not realistic due to cost.

Best bet would be companies 'streaming' the game to you. It's probably not that many years off now, just need someone to make the first step.
hacks have been a part of PC gaming since PC gaming exist. Nothing you can do about it.

OnLive did it and failed miserably.

hackers are not that big of a deal with regular gameplay. There are however people who scream "hacker" no matter what game they play when they're outskilled. Seriously just play the games and stop thinking every time you die that someone is hacking. There is a huge skill gap between console and PC. VAC is very effective at stopping a majority of hackers, I know this first hand since I was banned the same week I made my steam account and started PC gaming.

We do not need more BS DRM/Always online for single player games. I would rather deal with hackers than crappy corporations making and controlling every single game

The games you listed are all early access/have no real (effective) anticheats. That's not the case for a majority of games.

You're nuts if you think hackers aren't a problem in almost every popular and even semi-popular game out there. Take a single site like MPG|-| , it provides literally thousands of free hacks for any game you can imagine, and is a vast library of information to do with coding and creating hacks.

Even CSGO which is leading the way with VAC can't keep up with the amount of people sitting there waiting to create a new cheat and bypass the system. It's all a game to the coders, and the children eat it up and give them praise so they continue on.

doesn't mean you should act like there's a hacker in every match you play, it's not a common thing. Not only do I have thousands of hours in each CS, I watch streamers all the time, including in games like h1z1, and even they RARELY run into hackers. I've encountered a hacker twice in 200+ hours playing this game. They are far more common in this game than some others. CS is the biggest competitive FPS atm with 100k+ something players daily, so yea that's an obvious one for hackers.

No they will never win the battle. With that said, I don't think it's that much of a problem when you play games that are well funded. H1Z1 does a really good job of banning people. Games like Nether got completely over ran with hackers. You just have to do a little homework before buying a game on the PC I think. I agree with Uneazy. I've been playing for 140 hours, and I've maybe ran into 1 or 2 real hackers.

Completely agree with you. I have almost 500+ hours played and I have only come across less than 10 real hackers. What I do come across in extremely high numbers is people whining about getting killed by legitimate players and accusing them of hacking(including directed at myself and my teammates and teammates directed at other people).
problem is Daybreak does not care about hacks or cheats when it comes to your money ,, this company only cares about raking in as much cash as it can from microtransactions , it a joke of a company and smedly is so incompetent im suprised he can even tie his shoes without poking his eye out. What a joke

nice 5 games bro you really contribute to the gaming industry and seem to be extremely knowledgeable

especially with only 800 hours on h1z1, a $20 game. You must be hurting pretty badly if 800 hours of entertainment for $20 puts you in a rage.

What micro-transactions? All we currently have at the moment is cosmetic gear from loot crates that you can also trade and sell to other players, and airdrops which I don't think anyone actually buys because of how ♥♥♥♥♥♥ the loot is in them and how easily you can just win them in a BR.
