how do you access freeplay?

i beat the first level and didn't have the option to do freeplay. i closed the game and reloaded the save and it brought me to the next level without an option for freeplay. Do i have to beat years 1-4 before having access?

You have to be in the bar that exits to the Diagon Alley. The free play opts are listed on the wall near the stairway on the left side.

Would it be possible to refrain creating new threads after only 5 minutes of gameplay? People really can't just play till the game tell you that you unlock the thing?
