To use it, perform the following steps:
- Plug in your glasses and turn them into SBS mode by pressing POWER + Brightness UP buttons simulteneously for a few seconds. You should have a 3840x1080 "monitor" that have been added in your display settings.
- Start Deep Desktop, move the window to the glasses screen and maximize the window by double clicking on its title bar or pressing the maximize button.
-You should have the "SBS Mode" button in the main menu on the right eye part of the screen. Press it and it will switch Deep Desktop to fullscreen and you should have the interface being displayed in stereo 3D and usable as if you had your VR headset on.
I am working on adding 3 dof tracking for the glasses to be able to actually move your head in the same way you would with a VR headset. It is taking a bit of time since Xreal does not provide a SDK for the non Xreal Air Ultra glasses and so I have to rely on what as been reversed engineered about the glasses. When I am done with tracking, after connecting your glasses, you will be able to enable tracking in the main menu.
I have also a macOS version that works but I don't know yet how I would add it without having people being confused since VR is not supported on macOS.
Speaking of Windows version, SBS mode looks sharper and is smoother both in terms of performance (VR mode tend to push my CPU to 99%) and desktop habits.
When ready, you could mark the app as supporting both VR and standard modes and prompt user to choose when launched from desktop (like VRChat and others do). It's confusing, but SBS is probably still counts as 'standard'.
Thanks again, will definitely be playing with the app more.
PS. it's a shame I currently can't give the app Sit Back and Relax Award :)
You just need to get your cursor out from the Deep Desktop window and the overlay should go away. I had thought of having it disappear if you don't move the mouse for a few seconds like in Video mode but I don't know if it would be that great (unless there is a case I missed that for which you would want the cursor to stay on top of the Deep Desktop window).
