Save?

I can’t seem to save. Ctrl s doesn’t do it, and pressing F5 and entering scummvm it’s greyed out

just "S" and nothing else should save. Then "L" to load

Pressing S for me shows some funny critters instead, like most other keys do.
However unlike earlier Putt-Putt games, this has a car key icon named "menu".
In there, I found a way to save, or so I thought, as then the game just crashes.

There is a menu button on the bottom left corner of Putt-Putt's dashboard. Clicking on it pulls up a tab where players can either save, load, or quit a game. Only this and the circus game have that feature. In Save the Zoo and Travel Through Time, a simple Quit button is featured (though as it's been stated, you can still press 'S' to save and 'L' to load), while Join the Parade and Go to the Moon don't have a Quit button at all ('S' and 'L' still apply in those cases).
