I STILL can't get Pyromaniac, and I have been through several times now just torching every possible thing. It's very irritating.
Thanks for the clarification! :)
I had been using look at about everything just in case. I started a new master playthrough earlier in the evening and while looking at tapestries at the Banquet Hall Master Tradesman finally unlocked.
Like you, I still have that Pyromaniac achivement left to do now. Will have to try getting it tomorrow but hopefully there isn't much left. I'm not sure if I'm doing to much (if I see a scroll on the floor, I first quicksave then burn it, quickload, pick up, burn in picked up state, quickload, pick up, open, burn (unless its a key-item or spell scroll I won't reload)) but hopefully that will do it. :)
I've also thrown (almost) everything in the inventory in lava flow, study and furnace. Some scrolls and sacks probably is everything that's left to pick up.
If I see something that might be missable (and hasn't been mentioned in the other threads) I will suggest it. :)
I followed kamikaze9699 suggestions ( http://steamcommunity.com/app/294440/discussions/0/613940477813749503/#c613941122837241695 ) as well as burning every state of the items in the list. A scroll lying on the ground, burn, quickload, open on ground, burn, quickload, pick up, burn... and so on. Also tried burning a lot of items in lava flow. Items with variations (the flute and its holes) was burned at every state up to four holes.
I might have been doing to much for it to unlock but it eventually unlocked while burning one of the last books in the game that was placed under a desk. Nice finally having it and hopefully the solution for you might be in there somewhere too. :)
I guess that guy was right. Quite sure that I never destroyed any of the items in the guard room so items that can be destroyed with torch should be the ones that count.
Unless...here's a question. His list has the 5 logs in the Study on it. But unless I did something wrong, those are NOT burnable by the torch. Did you just throw them in the pits as I did, or did you find a way to torch them?
The teared parchments that would form a spell was burnt before combining, then burnt after combining, and last read/learned.
I think I tried to torch most of the outfits too. Might be worth trying out if you haven't.
I understand how you feel about it. I was just aiming for 50% of the achievements but really liked the game. And considering how much time spent trying to get the achievements I really wanted the last few too. :)
I've been a Shadowgate fan since the original NES version, so I was bound to love this game, and try for all the achievements. It's when there's just that ONE you can't get that it's especially annoying there's an "achievement for getting all other achievements", because then you're missing two instead of one.
Mmm, that 100% tastes good, doesn't it? :-)
I take your experience as confirmation that that almost OCD level of burning that I did shouldn't be needed. :)
EDIT: Forgot to comment on the NES-version. I love that game, fond memories playing it with a friend in the early 90's. :)
My first playthrough on this version was with the retro/NES soundtrack. Tried playing with the NES transisions but choose the newer one in the end.
