FragPunk

No, this game isn’t that "big thing." You are being misled by studios. (Falsely advertised game. Paid off media controls user interest through detrimental practices.)
Fragpunk’s popularity comes through marketing. Only this time this particular studio behind the game is using propaganda to lure players into the game trying the best they can to be this «next big thing» by paying off popular livestreamers and Youtubers to play their game and talk about it positively. Here in steam discussions we talk about the game totally unbiased, which is why we can point out those practices that the studios use to push their game.

Let’s start off by saying that this is not your typical casual games valuing fun over competitive toxic nature. It is important to see what game appeals to casual, interesting gameplay and what game appeals to competitive. I’ll use an example of a casual game. It’s not the same game as, let’s say Battlefield 1 or older battlefield games where art-style, drama of what’s happening on the screen, dynamic situations are pushed. Fragpunk is one of those 5v5 games that values toxicity more than anything, another game that tries to exploit user’s fueling anger of loss and emotions from victory of «how they defeated their enemies». It’s not a game where you’d be able to lay back and enjoy the scenery, enjoy things occurring on the screen which would result into interesting, fun and cinematic gameplay loops. It’s just another take on Valorant.

This game combines what people didn’t like about valorant and other competitive games and isn’t much different to concord. Why do some people hate concord, but don’t particularly hate fragpunk? Because YouTubers and other media push the opposite message to that game, manipulating people’s opinions and because concord released quietly and didn’t use propaganda to lure players in. People were taught to hate on Sony related products and to call Concord with a forced word «woke» to try and artificially bring down certain products. Concord isn’t good, but at the end of the day, both games are barely any different. It’s important to see that sometimes they are trying to push you another Concord, another one of those games that don’t value fun and put toxic competitive nature at its forefront.

This game, due to its 5v5 competitive nature is doomed to lose players after the initial hype spike simply because the game didn’t try to be something that would resonate with a more casual audience or with connoisseurs of art within games. It’s just this overwatch-like, valorant-like competitive game that combines unhealthy trends that people are getting tired from and don’t want to see in games anymore.

But livestreamers, YouTubers need content, they need that revenue, so they are pushing the game by falsely advertising it that it’s the «future of FPS gaming» when it primarily does nothing differently to other games. It’s nothing truly new.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=x-ohd-Y5Jwk

This sort of things are trying to mislead players, falsely advertise the game that «it will succeed where concord failed», that it’s «something new, something cool, something successful, something unlike anything else» because propaganda can be effective on players and may lure players into fragpunk while opposite propaganda will make players stomp concord when both are the same. It’s extremely clear and in plain sight. One was hated by propaganda and YouTubers, thus hated by the players and fragpunk is being pushed by YouTubers and media, snarky ways to lure players into another Concord and many players fall for that practice. They are trying to sell you another Concord because they have the money to push the game like this and because they chose to do so rather that let the game speak for itself. This game isn’t something new or creative, so the game doesn’t stand on its own without the paid livestreamer manipulations.

Let’s look at comments about the game under that video that tries its best to push it. Those videos usually don’t get many views.

I’ve intentionally opened up comments, pressed «New» under that YouTube video as an example and this is what I found:

«why do characters look so bland?»

«every game is the future of gaming until it flops»

«Gonna go down like Finals. Has a sudden spike of players, then becomes forgotten in a few months»

People are generally unhappy about how the game looks. Initial spike that brings developers revenue before they shut down the servers and move on to other products is typical in the market. NetEase - owner of Fragpunk has plenty of those. They’ll load their pockets and move on to another game.

Stay sharp towards this kind of practices. Avoid attempts to «lure» you in for money and for statistics into the game that players will eventually leave. It’s important to encourage developers to start taking risks and deliver new and creative experiences, rather than rehashing the old ideas. It’s important to stay careful when looking out for new games and give the spotlight to games that deserve it, not games that spend enough money to push itself through livestreamers and media.

I made the video this post is talking about

I will say I am neither a big content creator or had the video sponsored - I just made it because I liked the first few play tests a lot. I'm also not reaching for content to pay my bills; I have an actual job that puts my food on the table. Making videos is purely for my community and I to have fun with.

I will admit, the game definitely isn't for everyone, and I've seen relatively mixed reception in my comments section based on initial takes. If the game doesn't look appealing to you, move on and find something that you want to play - there's no need to ♥♥♥♥ in everyone's cereal.

As for those who like the game, have fun! And don't let people like this ruin it for you. I'm not worried about the game's live service lifecycle, NetEase has proven they know what they're doing with Marvel Rivals. Meanwhile, I'll be enjoying the game and providing some support through my content to keep the community thriving

Cheers <3

we all checked ur video about fragpunk and it was poorly made, one sided and was propaganda because u speak positively about the game that isn't good. you are falsely advertising the game, which is why u are here caught, atoning for your misinformation and wrongdoings you've made earlier by spreading false info. fragpunk's popularity comes through marketing and is false, your claims are false and your atonement you seek here isn't enough even if you've admitted to sins in your own post.

had you been truthful about fragpunk's problems and how it's not actually interesting, we'd look forward to discussing this with you and perhaps forgiving you or having mercy, but since you are here to spread incorrect information, this explains why other users wouldn't want to discuss this with you.

Oh great, you're here.

For those that don't know, this is a well-established alt account of OP. They tend to show up, bump OP's threads and just argue more.

Anyway, just so we're clear. Everything you said here is nonsense.
these essay long hate posts with links are bots, no way these people are real

This is another alt-account of OP. They are all furry-themed, use AI generations and all focus on being as negative as possible about the game they target.

It's a shame. Fragpunk doesn't need this kind of thing.

Yeah, OP should go hate on Ark: Survival Ascended or something instead. I might actually support OP if he targets games that deserve negative backlash. Unfortunately, OP only seems to target games that are either very good or have already shown a lot of potential to become very good.

lol you again who also said bad things about Rdd2
Middy Mar 5 @ 9:55am
What popularity? Its imminent release on Steam is the only reason I've heard of this game.
why is Concord bad?
1) terrible shooting.gamedisign
2) terrible character design
3) te game costs money
4) a Sony game that is not available in more than half of the world

all these disadvantages are not present in FragPunk

I have studied the OP profile, please ignore this thread, he is just a troll.
