Cosmetic and Hero unlocks.
I have acquired around 20 hours of actual playtime in the game and I still have 4 heroes to unlock. I still have 9 weapons to max out. I have only maxed out the levels on 1 hero. I still haven't finished the free battle pass, I just yesterday finished the Porcelain hunting event. I'm trying to grind my ranked games up to Plat and maybe even further.
These are the rewards. If they aren't good enough for you that's fine but sitting there pretending like they don't exist because you can't actually review a game properly is dishonest. You're no better than IGN or any other game journalist. Guess we need to have 'Bad Steam Player' mode alongside 'Game Journalist Mode' for games. All of the games I listed above have similar systems too. Plus... some people just like the core gameplay loop. It is totally fine if you don't... but THAT is not a problem of the game... you don't like it. That's a YOU issue and if your review denoted that you felt no sense of progression even with the systems involved I wouldn't care, but no, you act like these progression systems don't exist because they don't fit into your little narrative.
This is just disingenuous and shows a utter lack of understanding of Fragpunk, Apex Legends, game design, visual design, and ability design.
The only character who LOOKS anything like an Apex Legend Character is Axon / Octane but that's ony in the mask, Axon is a punk rocker with a long coat and guitar, octane is an adrenaline junkie in spandex.
Sklls
Broke Smoke / Loosely like Bangalore smoke.
Nitro Wall / loosely like Rampart wall, but Newcastle already stole her ability so maybe Nitro stole from Newcastle.
Jaguars I can see for miles / VERY loosely based on Bloodhound blood hunt (only thing they share is movement speed).
Pathojen Heal / Lifelines heal but... really not... this one would be a stretch.
Spider Teleporter / Functions like Wraith port.. but Ash already stole that concept so...
Kismet/Sonar Scans / Similar in function to Bloodhound scan but VERY different functions and usages.
That is all of the similar skills... and really none are 'similar' beyond having a similar function. Plus they've been used in more games beyond Apex and Fragpunk.
I'm not going to insult your tastes... look doesn't vibe with you. That's cool. This is your only REAL critique of the game. The rest of it is based on ignorance of the genre and game combined with your very clear bias against the game. You don't like it so you have to sh*t on everything about it. It's pretty normal. I hated space Marine 2... but only because the combat was Souls-lite... the rest of the game? Solid I just couldn't play it for more than 15 minutes. <- This is an example of a fair take... I admit the rest of Space Marine 2 might not be my aesthetic, I like grimdark but WH40k isn't 'grim dark' it's just 'grim'. But if you like that look it's fine. I just can't stand the controls.
This was the moment it finally clicked for me. You have no idea what you're talking about.
ALL games have higher player counts the first week or two, Fragpunk was NEVER going to keep that 100k, that's just normal for when games launch. Look at ANY game this trend exists I can't stand how often people like you try to manipulate what Steam Charts says to fit your narrative but your points show you have 0 understand of how game launches work.
Secondly you claim 60, and now 42... those are CURRENT numbers during down-time. Look at the 24 hour peak... Most gamers are in the US... i'm sorry to tell ya'll... we outnumber the rest of you in gamers to capita... so peak times NORMALLY take place sometime between Noon CST and 10pm CST.
YOU are UK based... so your Noon to 10pm is taking place 7am CST to 5pm CST.
Let's look at what the player count is from 7am to 5pm and then 5pm to 10pm shall we.
7am - 47k
8am - 55k
9am - 65k
10am - 70k
11 am - 72k
12 pm -73k
1pm 73k
2pm 73k
3pm 75k
4pm 75k
5pm 73k
6pm 68k
7pm 62k
8pm 59k
9pm 57k
10pm 55k
So the Crossover time from 10am to 5pm (3PM to 10PM for you) averages out to 72k players an hour. You posted this at 7am CST meaning you are gaming at Midnight. This is just before downtime begins to up-tick into peak time over the next couple of hours. So you are using DOWN TIME as a metric of how many players the game has. Despite the information being clearly laid out for you... you ignore all other information and push this one small point. This is like saying a game is dead because it has 0 players while servers are down for fixes. The numbers at those times are not indicative of the games success or failures. It's normal trends that exist in all games.
I also hope it doesn't end but unlike you i'm not spreading misinformation about the game. I am very blunt... some things NEED to change.
No Bots in Ranked.
Reworking of some cards.
Some stability issues related to sound.
Some server issues.
Little optimization here and there.
Stuff isn't perfect and needs to be tweaked, some balancing needs to occur some buffs some nerfs. But your complaints? Come off as someone who doesn't know anything about the gaming industry, talking like their some kind of authority. You don't even pay attention to the numbers that sites give you, none of your information can be trusted when you can't even properly relay information off of a graph to people.
If I can teach ONE PERSON that they are reading information wrong it was all worth it. I'm so sick of tired of folks misreading info or being INSANELY basic in 'x thing is like y thing'. Most people don't read but I don't care for that 1 person who does... I will continue to write.
at some point progression is capped until new content drops.
the important thing is how FUN the game loop/gameplay actually is
