Issues with Audio?
Currently experiencing an issue with Audio when I launch FragPunk. I can only hear the game audio when I tab out of the game.

This issue is only happening with FragPunk as other games are working fine. I was able to get it working once by verifying game files but, when I launched the game again next day, it wasn't working again. I verified files again and re-install the game with the same issue happening.

I played around with the Video settings in-game (trying it on full screen and window mode) and my windows audio settings. The game only plays audio when I tab out. Just in case, I re-installed my audio drivers on computer and tried a few other things with no prevail.

Anyone else experiencing this issue? Any suggestions are appreciated!

100% same. Only when you tab out or you switch windows or go to task manager or windows settings sometimes. Otherwise when you close the game :skullemperor: lmao or sometimes inbetween modes. Only solution I've had to fix it is to shut down the game and close NeacProtect client or that fragpunk anti cheat client, - FragNeacClient.exe tho as a process prob called NeacProtect in your Task Manger processes. Last night I think I had to restart Steam or my computer too to fix it tho and have no way how to fix it in game. Just now closing my game and killing the NeacClient then rebooting was enough to fix the issue. Odd though, never experienced this one in a game before.

Wait, it didn't fix lmao  the audio was only working because I was tabbed into this Steam Discussion so I guess that's how I can listen to my game haha. I don't know actually, maybe try restarting Steam & PC and reset settings. (Having audio play in background which I do have enabled makes no difference btw whether you change it or not, I've tested multiple times)
my friend experiencing same issue, it fixed when he restart the pc

Okay I'm going to restart and just employ this solution from another thread in these forums. They mentioned "I noticed if you tab out while the game just starts up that triggers it." I think that's the actual trigger to this bug I'd have to agree, it's still a bug but I think the only solution at least for now until it gets hotfixed is prevention so I'll restart everything and just try to prevent it from happening and ensure to only tab once it's fully loaded with audio and see if the issue ever happens again. I'll return if it fixes the next boot though because I've been havin this problem again since the first boot today.

Okay yeah that's the only reliable solution of prevention is just not to tab out or be throwing any inputs when it's first booting in such a fragile state haha. I accidentally tabbed out again when it was first booting and checking something almost as to confirm that it does indeed trigger the audio glitch as the audio wasn't working then again. Now after rebooting and staying tabbed in until it finished recompiling shaders and made it to the menu, the sound has been functioning properly the entire session (in-game and on menu.) Restart game, client and/or PC if you do experience the issue but until it's hotfixed, afterwards your only course of action is preventative by not tabbing out or disrupting the focused game window when Fragpunk is starting up (my theory is until the first splash screen when you hear audio and then you're free to tab out) though I haven't tried it out a few more times to test it. So, not bad, keep an eye out for patch otherwise seems avoidable enough until then!

Wow, just had same issue again tonight but while trying preventative measure so I honestly don't even know. I didn't have a single window open even for some reason, no Steam or other clients and had full focus on Fragpunk and the audio just glitched out as I logged in and is completely disabled now except of course when I'm tabbed out. Weirdest glitch and I'm unsure now of a surefire fix or solution to be able to maintain audio functionality.

The game is literally unplayable at the moment. I hope they fix it

Same issue here
Diliskar Mar 15 @ 5:36am
Go into the directory where the game is installed
(or Library > Right click Fragpunk > Properties > Installed Files > Browse)

Right click "Fragpunk.exe" > "Properties" > "Compability"

Check "Run this program as an administrator"
This fixed it for me

Some other post also mentions that "Disable fullscreen optimization" was required for them

Log in to your Windows:
System - Sound - More sound settings, and disable audio output on devices you don't use, so that only your headphones remain
Next in the game, go into the Audio and select your headphones in the audio output

If it doesn't help, restart your PC and log in to the game

I personally helped 4 people with this method :levkahype:

This seems to me, like it would be the working solution. I'll try that next time I run into the same issue. Thanks. I don't see the solution before being the key to solving it but I suppose if it doesn't work, restart PC and try setting FragPunk to run in administrator mode, disable fullscreen optimization if still not working I suppose as I could see that affecting the audio as it works while tabbed out and not tabbed in but still unsure of the chance of these later parts being able to fix it themselves. Considering that mine is almost avoidable just from being aware of it and getting lucky, I'm now hopin and thinkin the quoted solution from z1neros is fix enough to prevent any of us, ideally, from running into the issue with no way around it again.

Side note, I don't even have extra devices on my computer, only my headset and therefore no other devices to disable audio output from yet I still thought it's most likely solution as FragPunk seems to be losing focus of the audio device or connection or something similar so just specifically selecting the exact device under audio output in Audio settings makes sense to be the running fix. best of luck and have fun in your games
