HP Damage/Hull HP System?

can anyone explain how said system works?

Since starting , my hull has never lost a single hit point. That being said, I frequently drive over terrain that says 'HP impact -3' or through conditions like rain and dust storms. The game has parts and stuff that says 'reduces HP damage from rain/dust storm etc.' , but I never take damage from those sources anyway..... am I accidentally playing on easy mode?

Any info much appreciated.

HP is HorsePower not Hitpoints. Terrain and Weather parts will help reduce speed reduction of Kmph.
