Frequently Asked Questions
How much will the game cost on Early Access release?
$25 for the first week after Early Access release, then $30 after that. There will be no price increase when the game exits Early Access.

Does Project Silverfish use AI generated content?
None whatsoever.

The demo kept crashing for me or didn’t run well. Will the Early Access release be different?
Yes! To put it simply, a lot of Unreal performance-hogs like Nanite and Virtual Shadows are gone, and the Early Access release will be packaged in a different way than the demo was, making it inherently a lot more stable and giving you much higher fps. Additionally, some major sources of lag have been fixed, and the “Pre-Load Shaders” button on the main menu will actually work!

Will the game be fully voice-acted?
Not on Early Access launch. NPCs will have combat barks fully voiced when the game fully releases (Their current voice-work is placeholder). However unless this game makes Siris a LOT of money, they doubt all dialogue will be fully voiced.

Will the game be localized to my language?
Siris wants to localize the game, but unfortunately that will cost money, so it will depend on how successful the game is.

How does the content of the Early Access version compare to the demo?
There are about twice as many areas, many more weapons and items, many more artifacts, and many more quests! Also, some mechanics have been polished or reworked to fix issues.

Will there be more story quests and NPC dialogue?
Yes; this game is nowhere near done. The Early Access version already has lots of story content, but there’s much more to come.

Will there be multiple endings?
Siris plans on having a few endings. However, if resources get stretched they’ll cut the extra endings back and focus on the main story ending as a priority.

Will the game be available on Steam Deck?
It should be! There are a few playtesters with Steam Decks who report it runs decently well on medium settings.

Will the game have full controller support?
This is planned, but given that this game is PC focused, it is not a huge priority. If there’s enough demand for game-pad support, Siris will prioritize it more. In the meantime you can try Steam Input, which is Steam's built-in way of letting you map keyboard and mouse controls to a controller, and reportedly works pretty well.

Will the game come to consoles?
No.

Will Project Silverfish have multiplayer?
No. Multiplayer is extremely tedious and time consuming to implement if the game is not built around it from the start. Lots of systems, both in the gameplay and in the code, would need to be heavily modified just to make multiplayer playable. Additionally, Siris has no experience with online networking in games, and would much rather deliver a complete singleplayer experience than a buggy and broken co-op/multiplayer experience.

Will the game have character customization?
Yes, a full custom character mode will be available in the Early Access version.

Will there be modular / customizable weapons?
No. That isn't the kind of experience Siris is going for. They want the player to feel the thrill of discovering strange and unique treasures, rather than over-optimizing a single weapon to use for the whole game.

Will there be Steam achievements?
Maybe, but they’re not a priority.

Does the bag of stuff I drop when I die still disappear if I die again in Early Access?
Nope! The death bag system in the Expedition/Scavenger difficulties has been reworked in the Early Access version so that you lose one item from your death bag per day that you don't pick it up, and the bag will not disappear if you die again. Quest items will never disappear from your death bag.

Will saves carry over from the Demo to Early Access, or between Early Access versions?
Demo saves will unfortunately not be compatible with Early Access due to changes with the save system that were made after the demo updates ended. However, Early Access saves will almost certainly continue to be compatible with each new version. In the unlikely event that a new version breaks save compatibility, it will be announced beforehand.

Will first-person hand animations be added?
Unfortunately they will not be added. Having to do a unique reload animation for every single one of the countless weapons and items would take far too much work and time for Siris as a solo developer.

Not when Early Access releases, but it will be one of the main goals of the game in the future. Siris seems to be working from the early game content towards the late game content, and is somewhere in the mid-game right now.
Will there be modding support or the ability to make mods?

Will there ever be official modding support? Not sure. Will there be official modding support on Early Access launch? Unfortunately not. You will definitely still be able to mod the game with third-party tools the same way you can mod other Unreal games.
Will there be controller support? I've had close folks turned off this because of the lack of that (that also exists as accessibility for folks with wrist injuries and more); it'll help to perceive this more in the context of accessibility than demand alone.

Check question 10. But in the meantime, I believe Steam Input is a viable solution to map the game to controller. I'll also forward this to Siris.

There might be native controller support sometime in the future, Siris is already thinking about some other accessibility features. For now it’s only playable on controllers with Steam Input.

Just checked with Siris, they do indeed plan on adding controller support.
will hand models be added eventually?

Unlikely. I think the dev prefers the no hand look and it would also mean re-animating everything on top of making the assets for it.
Love the game game so far. Please share my vote for controller support. This game is good enough for me to struggle and rebind, but a little love for us x-console freaks would be very much appreciated. Bought the game anyway ;)
Oh, and love this early interaction. I think you've got a sleeper hit on your hands.
I played the demo and I think you nailed a great game here. I am in love with it! Buying it before it goes full price! Man, I have been eagerly waiting for a furry-like game, like this, it's own custom world! This game reminds me so much of "The Last Monster on Earth" by LJ Davies, and holy cow it fits the post-apocalyptic bill so well!

Well done!

Would love PC controller support. I use an Xbox on PC for windows, usually fun and easy, but otherwise not a requirement because the game is so fun! Well done again!

Yeah, Siris really did an amazing job on this game. Also, native controller support is planned, but until then you can use Steam Input to emulate keyboard inputs on controller.
I have a question - is there a possibility that game would be sold on GoG as well? I love the game, and I would not mind buying it on my second platform of choice as well.

Thank you for an awesome game, and good luck! :)

I believe Siris is not interested in selling their game there (at least in part) because when they originally tried to submit their first game Onyx Clad, they received a very condescending response not-so-subtly insulting the quality of the game.
