There is nothing whatsoever in the game that hints that this ring make things worse, instead of working like Dark Council tokens and making things better. You really should not make it look like it does the same thing when it does the opposite, especially when there's no real way to check.
This is a horrible design flaw. The ring's description doesn't hint that the prices are impaired, if it does, it's so indirect and roundabout in doing so, that a thousand other things could be inferred from a stretch of the same distance.
To top this off, both its "adjusted price" coloration, and the Dark Council's adjusted price coloration are both red, not to mention that both items are displayed to the side. Functionally, this item looks 100% identical, and there is no way to compare it to prices which are unadjusted, other than on a vague, generalized basis.
I've had this item for almost 14 seasons, and didn't know that it had a negative impact on carpet prices, when I'm a frequent carpet trader. The function that I had inferred was that it decreases *both* the buy and sell price, so that you can sometimes buy carpets cheaper, but may have trouble selling them if the ring continuously triggers. This is drastically different from the actual function, which ♥♥♥♥♥ you either way.
I think I would have enjoyed a cursed object, that I couldn't actually get rid of! So I had to start my own quest-line, find the right character and have that person help me get rid of the ring. Now it's just a bother..
