There are few ways to up your luck.

- go to temple and sacrifice some money to the god in return for blessings.
- pay the old lady to say her prayer for a very small fee.
- Bur black candle (item)
- Buy a Crossern for permanent luck increase

The problem is losing luck happens all the time, and gaining it back eats into ever so thin profit margins to the point where I think I'd be better off not travelling and just earning minimum wage working at a local tavern.

I spent about three hours on the game and couldn't find a single trade route worth my time. Given the risk, a 15-20% ROI's should be standard for even a 'simple' route. I think the biggest problem is that in early game you are so limited in what you can trade....and the Buy/Sell hedge is way to large to be worth the effort. Dear lord, I bought ore from the mines in the north and crought it to the Airship factory in the south....for a gross margin of 5gold/Ore. Take out all the fixed cost for travel and calculate a discount rate and you have a negative net present value of the who thing prior to even starting.

Do you buy liquor for the people in the inns? They provide you vith wery valuable rumours. (Not those that show on travel summary). Doing quests is also important to kickstart you and give you gold.

Booze for rumours, at least so far, appears to cost a lot more than it makes me. Typically I can't take advantage of it (don't have the resource or town is too far away) or simply obtuse. I will try it again and see if I am missing something. Regardless...rumours should be a way to make higher than normal returns....not the only way to profit.

It gets to the core problem with the game at the moment, margins are razor thin (if existent at all) and the only solution is to spend a ton of money (at least relative to potential profits early game) on a CHANCE at something. At the amount you currently have the buy/sell hedge differential way to high----,it would be more profitable for a merchant to stay in a city, buy from traveling merchants, and sell to the populous. I profit 5g/ore from purchasing it at the cheapest place I can find and sell it to a merchant who makes 10g/ore profit off what I sell him in the same city. It makes no sense.

Actualy rumours was the most important thing to traders of the olden days, pretty much the only way to make a profit if you dident have a contract from a merchans house stating that they would buy a certain amouth of goods for a certain price.
As the game is now the margins are way too high, it's extreamly easy to make a profit and just grown and grow. You are probly just hiering people you do not need and that way increase your expenses too much.
