wtf ending?

So apparently this game has an ending. I always thought that after you get 8 tapes, the game just ends, but I just beat it with my friend and instead of it ending, my like arms turned into the monsters, like I became a monster myself? How does that even work? Is this ever explained? The achievement you get for completing the game is "killer is dead" does that mean the monster dies and you become the new monster?

Actually based on the monster descriptions in White Noise 2, it sounds like Olkoth is what your character turns into when you win White Noise Online.
