Monster names

We have come to label monsters in RPGs and other fantasy-themed games with unified, generic D&D 101 terms such as "orc acupuncturist" and "undead toilet cleaner" and whatnot, but how about giving the monsters in CRAWL some silly personal names instead, for fun and profit? So instead of calling a skeleton bowman simply what he is, we name him, say, Murphy, and give him a personal dossier, in the vein of "Murphy has been dead for at least 150 years, but that didn't slacken his love for archery and guerrilla gardening."

If you need an explanation for that, think each summon is not a faceless goon, but the same poor individual being reborn, possessed by a ghost and eventually murdered again, over and over, just like the heroes }:-> .

Now THAT is a good idea! Even though it's not a game mechanic, it still adds to the dark humour and atmosphere that the game presents giving the game a much more satisfying feel to it. I give you all of the +1's my good sir/madame.

Oh yeah, I'm in. That said, if we honour Stumpt, I'd even make Slug a proper name - "Slug really hates his name. Most likely because he's a lungfish.", or something like that :-3 .

we haven't given the monsters specific names anywhere in the game, as we figured nicknames would develop that would be a better fit- i guess i hadn't anticipated the nicknames being so funny :)

We (or someone) will have to come up with some names for the Wiki I imagine. But I love the idea of giving them all pet names rather than more generic fantasy names.
