About those 3 attempts at a boss...
Is there a reason for this? When I tried the game with my friends we wasted 2 full games because we'd just die to the boss 3 times. We thought it was pretty stupid and decided to enforce a no boss before lvl 15 rule.

Are we expected to clear the boss at lvl 10 and why the limit? It would have been way more fun to let us try as many times as we want but give a gold bonus to the ghosts if the human fails. It's super anti-climatic to have the game end up abruptly after 1 hour and have no winner.

It would be kind of cool (imo at least) to reward the spirits directly in some way for winning the boss fights (either bonus gold, wrath, or at the very least an ectoplasm top off). The reduced health of the hero afterwards is fine, but I feel like there could be a bit more.

I think it's supposed to add to the feeling of dread and pitting you against each other. Yeah, you can try at level 10 (and depending on your stats and gear vs which boss, you can win), or you can wait until later.... but that gives your opponents more chance to try for themselves. It's 'the biggest threat is the other players' motif, and I thin it works well enough.

I get that but what I don't like is the 3 tries. I mean, who cares that their Name gets removed from the character name list when they can just recreate it right away. People just jump on the boss like crazy and we end up with nobody winning.

That is the whole thing about the game though.
Each round you get 3 tries for one of you to escape from the catacombs. If you fail somebodys soul is consumed and you set the boss free instead of one of your own. That's kind of the games story if you want.
Also in the end, having fun while playing the game is the goal and sometimes you beat the boss while doing so, sometimes you don't.
If you feel your time wasted just because none if the human players "won", you are either going into the game with the wrong mindset or it just isn't for you.
Personally I'm always having a lot of fun playing the game and sometimes just none of us wins and that is part of the excitement of the game. Can we beat the boss this time or not?
It also is kind of debatable if you can call it a victory, if the price for escape is leaving the souls of your former comrades behind in the dungeon :crawlspider:
Many things in life can feel a lot different if you just view them from another angle so to speak. ;D

The way I see it the game can end only two ways: Either one player wins and 3 lose or All 4 lose.

I get the consumption thing but there is really no incentive to wait until you are strong enough. One of my friend in particular will just rush the boss and die every time so he prevents us from winning.

I guess what I would've liked is something that carries over to your character from game to game. Something that meant you really don't want to have your soul consumed.

If the hero gets consumed, the winner is the highest level ghost.
You get skulls every time you kill a boss, which means losing your name is a hard blow when you've killed 12 bosses with it. Sure, you can remake it, but it's a blank slate again.

As for your friend, he sounds like a douchebag. I'd recommend not attacking the hero while his monster is still alive and have the hero kill said monster. Once he's down, you can start fighting for real. Once he understands that as long as he's a game-ruining ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ he won't get to play as a hero, he'll probably either stop being an ass or stop playing. Either way, it's a win-win.

Oh really? I remember it saying the "boss was free" or something like that. So is it the highest level in-game ghost or the highest level account ghost?

Also, Great idea about calling a truce between all other players when he's doing that :P

The reason for this is because infinite trys would mean everyone would be reckless, and no stategy to escape can exist. Sure, i can waste 1/3 of my attempts when i just got level 10 and have barely ever been to the shop, or i can come back at level 17 with a risk of my friends using a try or 2.

In a game with such a rouge life feel, winning shouldnt be a garunteed. I think this feature is nesearry for people to caution excape before ruining the whole game.

You're probably right.. I just wish there was a better incentive to "not die"... like items that carry over to next game or something. When I told my friends their character gets "deleted" they were like "sure.. I'll just remake it". It's not like there is pride in keeping it's boss kill count.
