Crawl
control scheme
is there any way to use the original control scheme from early access, because the current one is total garbage.

Are you sure you're talking about Crawl?

If the answer is yes, you can still remap every button in the options menu...

Nothing changed about the control scheme with the not-anymore-early-access release.
...What are you talking about?

are you ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ kidding me? they completely changed the control scheme! and yes, you can remap the controls to any key... on the keyboard. there is no apparent way to change it back to how it was originally, seeing as it used to be controlled entirely with the mouse!

...You can still play with the mouse if you want.
Just select your options with the mouse.

There were always the option to play with the keyboard or the mouse...

Nothing actually changed. I just checked it, to be sure.

are we even talking about the same game? i checked every single corner of that ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ options menu and there was no way to play with mouse. no way to allow you to control movement with the mouse, you can't even rebind keys to the mouse buttons!

... You just move the mouse and click with it.
As always.

More specifically, in the menu where you chose what god to pray, the number of AI, etc..., you just click with your mouse to join the lobby and play with it.

It's not a thing where you have to chose between the keyboard and the mouse.
You can actually play with both.
Useful when you have a friend but no controller for him.

(The only exception being with the "insert coin", where you have to use the keyboard to go to the menu.)

not anymore, apparently, cause my mouse isn't doing jack. clearly, one of us has something wrong with our copy of crawl.

I edited what I wrote to be more precise, sorry. Read it again.

Strange.
I did test what I said to be sure.
And it worked.

What you say is the cursor never appear or clicking doesn't do anything?

... I don't know what to say, then. Try removing your mouse from your computer, and put it in again?

well, it turns out what i had to do was go to options and turn on cabinet mode, which somehow got turned off. i don't see how i was supposed to somehow know that "cabinet mode" was at all related to being able to use the mouse, as cabinets obviously don't have mice, or how it got turned off. so all of this could irritation could have been avoided if they had just made their options menu the slightest bit intuitive. in other words, same old, same old.

and, nope, turns out that just allows me to use it in the menus. as soon as i go to the insert coin screen, the cursor is still there, but at no point after that am i ever able to use it outside of the menu.

Hmm this sounds like it might be some kind of bug? We haven't changed the control scheme at all, but of course working to improve controller compatibility sometimes breaks things for some people- can I get more specific info about the problem you're having? What control options did you use in the past, and in what way are they different now?

The one thing that plays weird with controls is the tutorial- as it happens before a player has a chance to calibrate controls, we rely on some defaults, but after the tutorial you should be able to set controls however you want as before- cabinet mode is just for binding multiple players to the keyboard (as used in home made arcade cabinets) but should be left off to play in regular mouse mode
