Eternal black screen after the intro

I've been trying to play this game for the first time in 6 years. I've deleted my old cloud saves and disabled steam cloud and I've disabled the steam overlay but the game still gets stuck on a black screen after the intro. Does anyone know how to fix this? I'm playing on PC.

It started working after I restarted my computer

I'm having the problem too .. it pops up in a small window which I can move, but once the game starts the window cant be moved, resized and only shows part of the screen, i can hear crying and i can hear my guy try to walk around and bump into stuff .. but if only i could see enough to get to the menu to turn on full screen .. i guess ill try the reboot option .. ughhhh..

the reboot fixes it :( idk why but it does .. horrible solution but the game is good.

Oh okay it crashed due to some kind of memory issue, then its back to its old ways .. but im not about to reboot again .. yarg..

(tried the test build and it worked without rebooting this second time ..)
