Start as Real GM

I am a first time player and starting to learn this game. I am coming from the Championship manager and Football manager series and know very little about ice hockey.

My question is what this option Start as Real GM means? I want to create tactics and monitor players directly. In Football manager I would let the assistant manager be responsible for training, individual follow up but I like to have control over every aspect of the team. Like I want to negotiate contracts myself, control which player is placed on loans list and so on.

What does the GM do?

Start as a Real GM means instead of creating your own, you become a current GM.

So say you wanted to take over Pittsburgh. Instead of being Joe Average, the GM you create, you're now Kyle Dubas.

Since I need the teaspoon feeding method: why would someone not tick the Real GM option?

And:

Under the job section there is options to select General Manager + Head coach and just General manager. What is the difference?

Also what are these settings under Options:
- disable team and player popups
- disable season projection line in player opoups
- disable team highlighting
- use caps for players (caps in like the one we can wear?)

Head Coach/GM = full control of the team
GM = Control of the trades, signings. You can also control player lines if you don't like what the head coach is doing.
-disables popups when you hover over a player
-disables a projected season stats popup.
-disables team highlighting, but I'm not sure where exactly.
-not sure about this one either as I've seen nothing with it checked and unchecked.
