Marvel Rivals Playtest

Marvel Rivals Playtest

The game is fun, but the performance is to be desired
Marvel Rivals is honestly really fun, I’ve spent a bunch of hours already and enjoyed it — still learning the characters, know the abilities of like about a half of them.

There are some balance changes needed, some characters are dogwaterly bad, while others are OP to an insane extent.

That being said, the worst offender right now is the performance. I mean I get decent FPS, but I do acknowladge that the game runs at about 80–120+ FPS even on lowest settings in 2K. Keep in mind, I have RTX 4080M, it’s one of the best GPUs on the market right now.

However, the main issue I would say isn’t the low FPS, but insane amount of stutters — personally, more often than not, they are quite quick, but sometimes they freeze the game for about 2 seconds. As far as I know, it’s an Unreal Engine 5 issue. Maybe, maybe not. I haven’t seen the stutters in The Finals which is also made on UE5.

Anyway, the game is good — I hope the devs will improve the performance drastically and won’t ruin it with microtransactions :fukoclannad:

I"m having the exact same problem. I don't have the best graphics card but 3060 manages to get around 90-100 FPS pretty consistently on low, but the screen still looks choppy as hell whenever there's a lot of characters on screen, which is often. I hope they fix it soon. I'm liking the game so far.

Getting around 230ish unstable on an RX 7800 XT, I just locked at 120 for now for stability.

Make sure your drivers are up to date I was getting horrible frames as well but once I updated my drivers and it used DLSS 3 it improved it soooo much.

What settings do you use? What resolution? DLSS?

My drivers aren’t the most up-to-date, though one of the latest still, but I’m pretty sure this is not the issue. Also I use DLSS3 too, I even tried both ultra quality and performance — the difference is there, but not a huge one.

Max settings on a 3080, stable 120 fps (locked it) without any noticeable stutters or freezes. 1440p, DLSS on performance.

Hm, I wonder why I don’t have stable 120 FPS (there are dips). You still have stutters or freezes?

Im getting better fps on a RTX 2060 than you do on a 4080m? Is your PC broken or something?

Try installing your game into your SSD/C: once i did that game ran much better for me

My game is already installed on SSD.

I mean this game still has performance issues, not only I have them. The stutters are the hugest offender so far, though.

It’s not, there are many variables that come into play — CPU, RAM, compatbility, drivers, performance-wise things based on game/engine.

Also, I have a laptop, and some games just perform way worse/better on laptops for X reason. Don’t really remember what they are, but they exist. For example, Rust runs like ♥♥♥♥ on laptops, because it’s unoptimized mess for modern devices — it relies a lot on single-core CPU (I think?), and almost all laptops are multi-core. Maybe I’m mistaken, but I remember doing research and finding something like that.
