Lost character and world; need help

[Dusty the TV Head Man]

I don't know exactly what happened, but earlier when I was playing my computer hard restarted and when I launched the game back up both my character and my world were gone. I've downloaded what should be my saves from the Steam Cloud browser page but I don't know how to restore them to the game. Dropping them into the game's saves file doesn't work and I don't know what exactly to do.
