Bit of fighting but doable.
...some rope ladders
We repaired a mechanism and that mechanism doesn't even do anything.
IKR!!
It's like waiting at the theme park for the awesome new roller coaster then you get a turn and it's some old guy from a hospice home pushing you around on a Home Depot lumber cart with one of the retainer bars scrunching up your groin.
ORRRRRRR... it's just a standard gating mechanism as seen in many many many other games. No hyberbole needed or required.
It's a false gate. I'm fine running around collecting 15 Widgets to open a door. It's the fact that after opening the door I turn around and realize that it was a door in a free-standing wall that I could have just walked around, I just hadn't tried to walk around it because doing so would have been kind of tedious.
(And then get tasked with building the rest of the wall before I can continue).
Yeah. Getting out isn't easy. Heck, getting down without taking lethal fall damage isn't easy. The last prebuilt ladder leaves you hanging in mid air 30 feet from the nearest wall. Expected solution is apparently to use "temporary" platforms to build out to your location as best you can (it ends up being like 1 platform shy of getting under the ladder, but at that point you can just jump to your "bridge") and building another ladder down. Which ends up an annoyingly 10 feet short of the next platform. As in, no fall damage getting down, but too high up to be able to jump back up onto.
I actually died once building the neccessary platform to solve that particular issue.
And of course I was doing this all as I went before getting to the bottom, whereupon I find...
...a map stone.
I went to all that work and it won't even get used.
You can build V and F platforms anywhere, you don't need a hearth.
I 100% Agree. This should've warned me to give up on this game... this was such a huge missed opportunity, they build this cool setpiece, you spend all those resources...and then.... you get 2 rope ladders that barely get you down at all.
