Not really. I've plenty of one off or GOTY editions of games I got free on Epic. This could just be the last wring of the dishcloth to get what's left of value from the game for the publisher. I mean, it launched on Epic, did very low numbers on Steam and isn't exactly setting the (under)world on fire right now.

For context, on Steam today's peak was about 2k players, Valheim had 27k.

If they DO launch DLC I hope it's hand in hand with an overhaul that irons out a lot of the rough edges, improves combat (a LOT) and injects some actual FUN.

You are comparing this to Valheim and its player count? I don't think that is the best comparison considering how much longer Valheim has had as far as time in development and amount of development resources. 2000 players on a weekday isn't too bad for people just playing on the Steam platform considering there are thousands of others playing it free right now on Epic.

A game doesnt need to have DLCs to go free on EPIC, but yes, sometimes that can help promote DLC sales.

How about as gamers we are appreciative to a company that actually gives back to the players with free video games every week of the year and sometimes multiple games in a week? And starting today, you can get one of at the very least 16 different free video games with games unlocking every single day starting Dec 19 and ending on January 2 and often times these are AA or AAA games during the Christmas giveaways. Steam rarely gives anything away for free.

Also they usually give away one coupon for 33% off any game you want on Epic. Not confirmed yet for this year. Fingers crossed.

Thats when it came to Steam bud.. it was originally on EPIC.
It was released Oct 2023, so a little over a year.

They are still actively working on the game so I'm fairly certain DLC will be released but not necessarily paid DLC.

Don't worry even payday 2 was given for free on steam and is still alive. Similarly subnautica was given free on epic games just after 11 days of it's launch and is still very active.
