Good idea, poor gameplay.
(Got it for free on Epic so this is the only way I can review the game)

Not saying Im skilled in any way, but this game has a lot of issues that make it not fun to play at all.

Early game wasn't bad. Limited inventory made collecting resources a pain, but that's normal and once you get a proper backpack it becomes good. The more I play though the worse the game gets. I want to detail things. But every time I try this becomes a freaking wall of text with complaints.

Combat simply feels horrible from wonky attack timings and outright broken auto aim. Bows are just outright worthless to use as well. Basic arrows are just so weak. But you can't get better ammo from the lack of resources. Needing to use bronze a rather limited resource and feathers something you'll be lucky to find at all.. Crossbows aren't better. Silver is far more common, but still a rather limited resource to waste on something so weak.

Aiming in general is just bad for both bows and the piackaxe for some reason. The aiming diamond is to the left of the character, but some times it's in the middle. No consistency at all. This also effects bows as well on to of their weak damage.

Resources feel worthless to collect, required to have, and a waste to use all at once.

Base building feels both needed and hell to manage the further you. Not all that bad really, if travel wasn't so damned slow with everything being so far apart, and the lack of fast travel all thanks to black diamonds.

Black diamonds. My god are those horrible to gather. Starting off it wasn't bad, but it just takes so damned many of them to unlock progression! You want to use them for fast travel, and even have an option to use them for cosmetics. But don't you freaking dare use them or risk nearly getting soft locked waiting for random drops from gobos/orks from how many are required for progression.

The game could have been good. It's honestly held me for several straight days wanting to play it even with these issues and more I haven't bothered to list! But it's just getting worse and worse the more I play to the point of frustration to say the least.

I have. It usually works well for me, though I have seen it do what you're describing.

I like the game, but placing platforms is maddening - despite supposed dedicated commands, you have almost no control over what height they end up at. I end up placing 3-4 and just picking the best sometimes. Especially annoying when trying to do Deepest Deeps and the Crystal Descent in a tolerably timely manner.

Honestly, that's about the best way to do it without driving yourself (completely) crazy. At least as it applies to laying them out for decorative purposes, or trying to create wall shelving for storage, etc.

If I'm *really* trying to get something to line up, I put it to the highest point then jump, and start Shift+scroll down to pull it closer so the height of my jump is roughly where I want it to be.. then with that reference point. I use another platform to get myself up there and try to get as precise as I can, remove the others and build off that.

It's clunky to say the least, the scroll adjustments should definitely be a smooth incremental change instead of what we've got.. the function is clearly there, since we can do it by moving our character, that method is just frustratingly imprecise.
Agreed, these crazy Heath-Robinson solutions are something we shouldn't have to devise. Most other survival games don't have a problem with this; it needs fixing.

The game is completely missing any NPCs or side missions, lacks some iconic locations (like Endless Stairs and some has wrong - like no watcher at the eregion gate and chamber of mazarbul) and making crystal torch epic item is pain in the ass. Only few weapon and armor sets. No mithril armor, only two tier V weapons, both slashing.
Orc camps are too generic - you've seen one, you've seen them all.

The game could be much, much more. But overall, I have like it.

i mostly agree with the op

the look of the halls is mostly very good and i like the vibe
some "cells" require some polishing

For the gameplay i agree on:

Aiming might be better especially with pickaxes when there is a little "bit" floating in the air
Maybe add an optional crosshair?

Very often items just moving thru the floor and cant be "sucked" up - which means sooner or later i have flooded the map with items i cant pick up
especially on elevated platforms
How about removing or relocating them after some time or on logout?

Stone is something that piles up very quick how about something to do with all of those megatons of stone
stone tip arrows? concrete? putting them in a grinder for traces of metals?

When i dig a small hole while sitting on top of ressources i cant jump into this hole without my dwarf instantly climbing up
make ledgegrabbing optional?

the building part could be optimised im often stuck fiddling the parts together
sometimes its the camera postion (when i have a second floor or roof placed) sometimes i fiddle with the snapping which could be better
add a snapping option, like valheim has? review the options for camera on build mode?

how about a recycling option for old equipment? get some ressources back?

I accidentally crafted 2 or 3 bows when I meant to craft arrows early on... they just sat in a chest in my second base in the Elven Quarter, eventually I saw someone recommend to just throw them in any deep water you can't walk through. That did it!
