Adamant Hammer

Am I missing something somewhere? I have searched everywhere that's available to me. I've cleared all the orc camps and found the library. I am at the door to the dragon, but I need this adamant hammer to continue on multiple points. Any help?

You'll get adamant hammer at the end of the game's story, after you defeat the dragon.
You basicly need it only to repear statue before dragon's lair (but you can seal the vent with normal Durin's lamp anyway), to repair Bridge of Khazad Duum and King's brew tank

I've searched nearly everywhere, I haven't come across any mithril to make the weapon. Is it possible I have overlooked a key area?

Found what I was looking for. One of the last places I was hoping it was though... Thanks for making me look in EVERY nook and cranny! :p

Just follow your knowledge of LotR books lore.
You have to go under Caradhras, explore until you find Mithril lode teleport stone and Mithril forge. In the hole with lake on the bottom, near the teleport stone, some 5 pcs of Mithril ore can be mined.
To mine more you have explore under Caradhras, especially tunnels across orccity or find room with crevice/abyss into the darkest depths (use wood/rope platforms), where more of Mithril can be found.
You totally need only 30 pieces of ore to create 5 ingots for the dragon spear.
