Character stuck in water

I am playing solo and I somehow got to a place by the pump station where I'm stuck in a corner of the water where I am just constantly falling in and when it finally spawns me into a spot where I'm not falling in it doesn't let me build anything to get out so I fall into despair and die. I am out of equipment now as I've gotten to my body a couple times and just can't get out. suggestions?

I encountered the same issue. Pressing any key except ESC doesn't work. I had to create a new character to enter the world. Fortunately, all the previously learned skills and the base I built are still there. However, I can't retrieve the items from the backpack of the previous character, which contained all my black diamonds.

if its in the pump house area you cant build around the edges so far as i know so they could be stuck there? similiar to trying to build a ramp down from the crystal descent(from the lift)

Otherwise they should be able to build piers all over the water once the boss is dead.

Right, you won't see them. Do you know where they were? Can you build a platform under where they were? You'll need enough platforms for them to get somewhere stable. Then when you switch to your old character, the platforms will be under you and you'll be able to do stuff.

That's a good idea. However, my old character is in a dead state. After resurrection, the health is still 0, then it dies again and revives again, entering a loop. In this state, pressing any key doesn't work, and I can't move. But anyway, I will try it tonight.

logging out and back in should place you back to your last hard ground position
and the dead loop is very unnatural as well, somethings up with your game

I was able to get my body then log out. I created a new world, stored my stuff then log back in and respawn then get my stuff. Thank everyone for their comments.
