Game Playability/Replay - Solo Questions
Hey gang, how doable is this game solo do you actually need a group? Do you gather NPC's as you go along? Kind of in the dark with how to proceed.

Just wondering about replayability etc.

Totally doable solo albeit rather lonely,

No npc's 'cept a talking Raven who kinda helps guide you along a bit in campaign. he's not around that much though.

As to replayability sandbox is structured totally different to campaign, still has enemies and such but you're totally on your own with no hand holding.

Oh, for solo if it's to hard there's a difficulty setting called solo, imagine that, you can further tweak difficulty ig, just hit esc and adjust from there.
It´s perfectly fine for solo play. Solo is even a difficulty option.

You can change worlds with your dwarf and keep your inventory regardless of the progression in the world you switch to. The story progression is on it´s own in every world though and your character gets updated to the progression of the world you join.

Map is random, but the key parts are basically the same. You will find the things you need in the same areas in similar looking locations.

For me a coop game with friends and a solo playtrough is propably enough for me right now. Let´s see how tempting this game still is after we are done with Wildmender and Sons of the Forest.
Very soloable.

There are no NPC's, it's just your character.

For replayability, there are different game modes. There's a campaign mode that unlocks areas along a certain progression. I recommend that you play the campaign first. You'll start in beginner areas, and then go onto tougher (and scarier) areas later on. There's a planned progression.

If you want to play again (after you have learned the game), there's a sandbox mode. Sandbox makes random maps, and you set the goals. Just pure sandbox survival crafting. Sandbox can create maps where certain zones are rare, and you might have issues with lack of resources that are found in those zones being in short supply. Another reason to play campaign first, but it also means one of your self assigned goal will be find resource x.

Some people have reported here in the forums that combat can be a little hard. If you make too much noise while running around and mining you can attract enemy hordes. When the horde shows up, it's easy to get surrounded and attacked from all sides. Orcs, goblins, bats. There are also periodic attacks made on your bases.

The combat is manageable though, if you take precautions and plan ahead. The most common thing that summons hordes is mining out large deposits on the sides of caves and tunnels. These deposits consist of two resources: small seams of one material, like copper, tin, gemstones, etc. And the second resource is the stone around those seams, which is used for base building materials. You can tunnel into the deposits, and if a horde comes, you can retreat into the tunnel. This way you aren't surrounded.

For base attacks, the way to solve that is layers of defenses. Build multiple walls and doors. They might break through 1 or 2, but usually not all of them. Later on you can make walls out of stronger stone, and the enemies can barely scratch them. Walls can be deconstructed later on. I constantly expanded my base by building new walls in front of the old ones, and then ripping down the innermost layers to have space to build.
appreciate it gang got a hang of it

Played it in its entirety to 100%, all alone, was good.
