Random Maps?
New player here. I noticed when I started I could enter a seed number, so I assumed the maps were random layout for replay-ability, however after reading a guide I get the impression the maps are not random.

So if not the maps, what is the seed for, what is random?

Thanks.

The maps are indeed random, the sandbox maps even more so than the campaign ones. Some points of interest don't change (for example, the West Gate obviously always is at the Western edge of the map and he East Gate on the Eastern Edge) but others move their position depending on the seeds.

In campaign there is more order so that you will always encounter the same sequence of biomes, but the layout of the area is randomized from a given set of rooms and tunnels.

In Sandbox it's even more random... you have 4 Deeps and 4 Levels, and it is fixed which biome is located on which layer, but the layout and connection between them is random.

Excellent news, I was hoping this was the case, a few friends and I just started a "campaign" map and were wondering. sill in the first area but lost our world and had to restart, (rented a server now), and it's the same area, but noticed some random location like the cranberries in the water etc. Thanks!
