Dragon Boss Fight - Minion Waves????

How many waves of minions should I expect in the first stage of the dragon boss fight? I tried several times over the coarse of a few days and after 10+ waves and then death, gave up each time. Surely there aren't meant to be that many waves???? Fight just won't seem to progress to stage 2.

Build a fireplace, a repair bench, a hero obelisk and a bunch of treasures right next to the battlefield and you can defeat anyone. Just run and repair the armor.

Tried that. I fought for 2 complete day/night cycles. Completely lost track of how many orc waves I killed. I finally ran out of food to keep energy up so I was not able to dodge well and eventually was killed by despair ticking my HP down. Is there some trigger to advance this fight? There's no way I'm meant to fight this many waves. None of the videos I watch have more than a few.

I believe you need to kill at least two drakes/fell beasts to trigger her departure. When my friend and I first attempted the fight, no drakes spawned and it was endless waves of orcs. We eventually ran out of food, so we went to the elven quarter to farm mats. When we reattempted the fight, drakes started spawning with the orcs, so we were able to progress. I don't know if zoning out to a different area reset something or if it was purely luck, but I thought I'd mention it just in case. I also noticed there were several drakes flying around the top of the cavern, so maybe see if they are bugged out and just hanging out up there rather than attacking you.

Soul: sounds like you experienced what I am experiencing. I have a fully stocked base at the Bone Hoard map stone, so I haven't left the zone. I'll try your idea of going to a different zone and see if it shakes something loose. In the morning, though. I'm really kind of over it at the moment XD. I'll report back! Thanks!

Unfortunately, the game is bugging me in the Bone Lair. I've been trying for ages to get phase 2 to start, but nothing has worked. All the pillars were destroyed by the dragoness and I've killed 3 dragonlings, but even after about 30-45 minutes nothing has changed. Apart from me running in circles and killing orcs. Leaving the zone doesn't help either. So I can't finish the game....

So the dragon just sits in the middle of the ring and never flies off? Killing 3 drakes should get her to fly away, so it sounds like you are doing things right for phase 1. Have you tried letting a few days pass (in game) to see if she resets?

iirc there was 3 or 4 waves ,including 2 small dragons it could depend from difficulty setting though .
U must be bugged then dragon should immediately fly up to next phase if u kill all anemies from wave spawns.
Try make another world enter it with ur character then go back to ur world .

Same here. Into the 3 day. Killed the two drakes, but the orcs won't stop coming, and the dragon won't stop trash talking. Burned through at least 200 metals repairing, and was bone tired when they finally killed me.

I'll try again tomorrow, but this is getting tiresome.

validate game files or try take ur dwarf to other world u make or join any then come back maybe reloading world fully will fix that bug.

Did both. Didn't work. I'll try a suggestion I read awhile ago. Stay out of the area for a few game days. Maybe then.

Never had this problem the first couple of play throughs on PS5, first time on PC running through this and now I'm having the exact issue. Killed the drakes, and endless waves of orcs. Think I've killed over 100 waves so far.

Hello. Same problem here, even after waiting for at least 10 in game days.
Dragon is still there with endless waves of orcs.
