If you look at older posts/videos, most show a room by room layout, but now zones are just one big block.
For a game made in the 2020's(the decade, not the year) they may as well not have had a map at all.
Would a more detailed map be nice? Yes. The previous version at least showed where rooms actually had connecting points, that's missing in the new one. The current version is visually a bit nicer, but actually lacking in information in exchange. Things like the ascents or descents in the mines would be nice if they showed the new rooms on the different levels.
Is the current map completely unuseable? No. It's very rudimentary, I agree. But at the very least, it does show you where the next rooms are. No map at all would be more annoying.
Good Lord. How can anybody think the new map is an "improvement"?
How do you get your stuff up7down areas like crystal decent?
Building rope ladders? Down is easy, you can just throw stuff down.
If I can't find my way back to an area I have been before, I look at the map. If after looking at the map, I still can't find my way back, it's a problem with the map. I shouldn't have to break out a pad of graph paper to keep track of where things are in a PC game from 2023.
