game soft locked? no iron?
is it possible to be soft locked because no iron spawns? I have just bought this game and started my first world, got the first lot of iron from the spawn across from the base, after that I've explored everywhere up to the elven quarter, I have found about 500 coal, so many coal deposits I've started ignoring them, but not a single other Iron deposit anywhere. Is this randomly generated? are you supposed to spend hours upon hours just searching for a resource that doesn't seem to exist because that's just not fun

Yeah I have hundreds of coal but the only iron I find is in chests so I am actually moving backwards equipment wise as stuff wears out. Have not found a single iron vein in IDK 40 rooms.

Make another game world, you character will enter the world with all items it's holding.

Hrmmm... This might be a good spot for a modder (or the dev... hint hint) to allow us to make iron out of scrap metal. Like we can make coal out of wood.

This feels like an exploit, but I may have to do it purely to progress my game. Even through the elven quarter just seeing coal after coal was so disappointing.

Just keep looking, there more resources than you will ever need.

It's there. Look up more often.

There's iron literally in the Elven area. Examine every breakable rock area between the starting camp and the Elven district and you'll have more than enough iron.

I also had only one iron ore node between the starting one and the elven quarter. Lots of iron in the quarter itself, though.

Get enough for five iron bars and make the repair bench. Repairing only costs scrap, not actual iron. No reason to throw away broken tools once you have that.
I found iron along the Elven Quarters walls.

sometimes iron is "buried" inside rock. if you see rock that seemingly doesn't have anything, dig into it to see what you find. It should be literally all over the place in both areas

iv learned so far ore can hide in transition walls, and also look up i have found iron near the ceiling in tall rooms.

FWIW I just started a new game since I was so annoyed with the no iron, and this game instead of only finding say 10-20 iron across the first 40 rooms I found like 30-40 in the first 10. So maybe it is just pretty random.

This. For a mining game mining is very limited.

It doesn't even have a mining tag. It's not a mining game, though mining is a part of the gameplay. I'd call it an exploration game more than anything.
