I often find myself being attacked by wolves when I return to my base using the fast travel.
Should have it so the hearth would block spawns.
I initially built those because some stupid bear came wandering in and stomped on a few things that were in its way.
I have no problems with the spawns per say but the bears ability to destroy (playermade) things just through wandering. Who the hell came up with that idea basically called for serious spanking..
That seems to have stopped about 99% of the animal spawns in that room for me. I do still occasionally get a group of wolves spawning in it but that might just be because I haven't built something on top of that specific spawner yet (I think its in one of the back corners). But that only seems to spawn about every 10 nights or so.
The bear, elk, other wolves, and the eventual goblin raids all spawn outside & have to deal with the walls (hence the reason to keep the door closed).
EDIT: And yes if you overlap the Hearths they all will share the same "pull from box" function even if its across the room. So it gets treated as one massive base area.
That's exactly what we did.. Might help someone, but not in our case sadly
On a side note. the empty rooftop gaps are covered in floor tiles so maybe this counts as laying flooring.
