You have to go out and look. They don't automatically mark any spots outside the tutorial node.

Keep an eye out for rock with red spots. They are scattered around the mine. You'll need to explore a little to find them. Do so and you'll be swimming in ore an ingots soon enough.

They can look a bit like coal too!

Coal and Iron are usually in a same zone you enter if you find one of them. Just wait until you need to get copper and tin *sigh*.

I hate everyone's suggestions. Always the most obvious ♥♥♥♥

"Have you tried looking at the walls?" Yes jackass
"Look for red splotches" like duh, I did the tutorial

I'm pretty sure everyone whose asking has been through the loops. I've been through my entire first section, meticulously. I have had just 2 iron ore spots spawn. And haven't found any yet in the elven quarter.

it is the seed you are in it is bad i had the same problem i tried a new save with a different seed and i had no problem finding iron ore in the new seed

110% agree, my first map was very bad for iron spots, but to an issue I had to restart my playthrough, and the 2nd seed I got, theres iron all over the place

Is it only sandbox worlds that are seeded like this or are story ones as well?
busterdude Oct 14, 2024 @ 9:14am
i am on story
Should be able to get iron from scraps....this is why we can't have nice things.
My current spawn had two iron nodes in the Westgate and Aftermath area (and one of them is the tutorial node). It sounds like that is what you have too.
There is some iron in the Elven Quarter. Don't waste it, you need to focus on a steel pick axe. Once you get down to the mines, you'll have all the iron you need.

make sure you check behind walls, thes occasionally large nodes of ore inside the rocks behind walls.

The iron is most common ore after stone. There are lots of it in mines of moria, dwarowdell and desolation areas.
Coal and Copper is much less common, salt and silver is lower deeps exclusive, gold is mines of moria and desolation, mithril only in under Caradhras in the darkest depths. Tin can be found here and there. Some small rocks of tin regenerate often.

After playing on two campaign maps and a sandbox map it seems like some seeds don't give you early game resources, such as iron, as readily as others do. I guess the OP can simply swap to a different map, farm some iron, then go back to their original game if they really can't find what they need.

Yes if you dig around in the rock there is Iron, sometimes large nodes. Take your time and get to digging!
