Not getting recipes is a game breaking bug. The scaling depends on gear.
You will always begin the next area with a weapon that doesn't do full damage. You get the appropriate weapon within that area.
He's not talking about weapons. He's talking about armor recipes that are one, tedious to find, two, come in thirds (this should be modded out -> Looking at you modding community), and three are (VERY) random.
EDIT: The gameplay loop is "off". The very first area you come to (the square with four buildings, I call it 'The Arena' because Goblins are always there waiting for me in the morning), requires upgrades to one, or more buildings that you cannot make.
These upgrades are hours away in terms of gameplay. Not to mention the "impacted dirt" that requires you to repair Navi's forge. (I experienced a bug there that ended a prior runthrough).
So the game wants you to discover statues, only some, if not many of them are behind said dirt that you cannot mine through.
This means the loop is progress from area 1 -> area 2, THEN come BACK to area 1.
Sometimes. I've seen twice now since the steam real release where certain areas are shy one or two statues.
How can you say this is normal?
What is the point of exploring, opening chests, getting the same loot over and over, repairing statues that don't even give me ore or any reward whatsoever? What even is the point?
The orc area has enemies with higher stats and my weapons/armor are no longer sufficient. The game is fundamentally broken.
For the storymode when i got to the elf area I didnt even have boots. I had to goto sandbox mode, pick up a boots recipe, craft it, lug it back to story mode just so i could get boots. How ridiculous is that?
The iron armor does not have boots or a helmet. The first you get those is the steel armor. In story mode at least. So no, you first get boots past the elf quarter.
