How long does it take to become fun?

I thought I'd give this a try. Made a dwarf, set up an offline world to solo mode. I got as far as finding the abandoned camp and repairing the Hearth and iron smelting thing. I had just placed down a bed, and I guess that triggered a goblin attack.

And now I'm caught in a death loop, because there doesn't seem to be an end to the goblin swarm. My axe broke, I have no armor or defenses of any kind. I respawn, try to punch maybe one of them to death, die. They run in and destroy something, and I respawn and try more punching. I finally gave up and just quit out, because it's clear that this "run" is completely done and I didn't feel like slogging through it until they *finally* get around to destroying the bed and triggering an actual Game Over.

I'm not really even sure what I can do differently, because the game didn't give me ANY time to prepare and the fight is absolutely ridiculous for a single player.

Yeap, this is why i'm refunding it, its meant for multiplayer game play. It can be played in SP, but this lazy concept for multi play just ruined it for me.

Over 2 hours, so no refund when the game gets a little bit better.

i never even built any walls with the raid, its just called using a shield and blocking, sounds like a skill issue if anything

from what i know you can tweak the difficulty settings, id suggest u pull em down if u have a hard time with its combat

Are you playing on Normal difficulty and not Solo?

Solo difficulty, but it doesn't matter apparently. The game isn't fun, and the community doesn't seem much better.

just kite and get stuff to do another axe + shield ? the first enemy should not be a big issue, even with basic stuff.
Also if its too hard for you you can tweak the difficulty of enemy or Horde attacks

Something as simple as a wall can go a long way.

Survived it with less than half health myself, including my axe breaking and me having to kite and craft a new one mid fight. Normal difficulty, first game. Might be turning the difficulty up soon.

If you are playing the default difficulty solo you are going to have a hard time.
Try story mode. That's what I am doing and it pretty fun and not frustrating.

A hard time only if you've literally never played a game like this before, maybe.

Sometimes I'm not sure if the sliders in the Settings are working at all.
I turned the Drops slider to max and still just 3 Black diamonds in 35 hours.

I find the game fun , a lot better than many games of its type i have played, each to their own i guess

Loving the game from start to present. Bought it a few days ago. Certainly better with multiplayer but I would still play solo.

I've been playing solo, but on normal difficulty - it isn't too hard, but it can be frustrating how quickly your armor and weapons break, so yeah, just dial back the difficulty.
