How to get hide?
Like the title says. I'm in a sandbox world, need steel ingots but doing The Great Forge of Narvi quest didn't unlock them. I think I need hide but how the hell do I get hide?

Hide comes from some "prey" animals, and also Worgs. (iirc). As you advance you'll unlock crafting devices that will aid you in turning scrap hide into Hide and so on.

Make sure, in Sandbox, you build one of everything you can. Same with crafting.

Best Source for Hides are the Deer in the Elven Quarter. Little bit rare at the start, but once you remove the orcs from the quarter there should be plenty spawning.

Bears are good for it too. A single run through the elf quarter can net a nice fat stack of hides. I have the most luck using a bow on the deer so I can hit them before they run away.

Most of the melee weapons have a lunge aspect on their charged attack and will one-hit the deer. It takes a little practice, but holding the attack charge (LMB) while approaching (NOT SPRINTING) the animal, then releasing once you're in range can also catch them a good nine times out of ten. Saves on arrows and hunting feathers!

I just kill em with regular arrows, though, which are cheap and easy to make. Saves time, frustration, and a need for "a little practice" when you're in a hurry.
