how to progress after finding the elven quarter and the forge

I have been plodding along in this and seem to have hit a wall. i have stone that requires a stronger pick, i have steel but need the next one, i cant find the way into the deep depths, ive found moria and i have searched every single cave, mined almost every block and cannot find the entrance/exit. i need the third tier wood and i dont know where to find it.
if anyone has any advice id appreciate it.

its not the deep depths its the first age pick i need and i cant find crystal descent entrance anywhere

I am assuming you repaired the forge? I got the third piece but I glitched out a object needed to continue. so I was wondering what you got once the repair was completed? Was this a step you did?

i repaired the forge. i found the way, it was a tiny dirt wall around a corner that i didnt see. ive now found it and then immediately fell to my death. lmao

you dont need the tier 3 pick to get to the depths. Are you sure you explored everything in the mines, broke through every dirtwall? the two things you need to find are Orctown and the Crystal Descent, and you should be able to do that with a tier 2 Pickaxe. The third tier wood is down the Crystal Descent, you're not supposed to have that yet.

The entrance room of the Mines of Moria has two exits. One goes north on the map, one goes south. Use the south one and explore there. There should be an ascent/descent room, a big shaft either filled with stone stairs or wooden scaffolding. The stairs one has one exit a little hidden if you find it going up, you have to skirt around the stairs.

the dirt wall to the crystal descent was around a corner, in the dark and i just couldnt see it walking into the room before it. ive now found and progressing through.
thanks for all the advice though, also wasnt expecting the watcher to turn up and that scared the sh*t outta me lol
