You cannot build platforms, the walls are not registerd as walls to anker them to
I mean... For me, my dwarf said something about building their way across when I stood at the edge. Also, at the same time, the hint/advice notice about piers dropped. Either that doesn't trigger for everyone, or I'm not exactly sure how much better it should be explained. Large blinking texts and an outline with arrows pointing at it, which all only goes away, stopping you from progression because you can't see anything else, when you have built the first pier?
Yes, what I understood as platforms around the wall. Wich doesn't work
It triggers, but occasionally it gets cut off or drowned out, such as in the case of my second play through, you can be attacked during the dialogue. There's not many other prompts to free build, and unless you happen to notice the pier in the construction menu, you don't get any evidence it's available, the fact that it's classified with the rest of the 'needs a hearth' scaffolding options is what took me so long to find it.
We got ample notice for quick platforms and rope ladders, but unfortunately, there is no equivalent tutorial prompt for piers.
