is the game worth it now?
when the game first launched i had the impression that it was just yet another generic survival game but in the lotr world, is it any better now?

There's nothing unique about it no, its a basic survival game in a lotr setting, so i'm not sure you wont enjoy it

remember on steam you can still play a game for 2h and get a refund, you would get a feel of the game at least, but like i said, exploration becomes better as you progress (and thats my favourite thing personally)

I neither know your taste, nor your experience from the early days of this game, but the answer is probably "no" for you. Since "another generic survival game (which isn't really a survival game as usual)" describes the game to a large extend.
If i would have to give the game a rating it would probably be somewhere between decent and good, but not above. But I guess I am more forgiving to the several small flaws it got (according to my personal preferences).

I dont understand your comment about another generic survival game, you explore, gather and build, i'm not sure what else you're expecting for these types of games

I'm really enjoying it, it has some flaws, but overall the game is great, the more you play, the more it gets better, especially for the exploration... I have not yet finished the game, but i'm always looking forward to my next session

thank you for you response, i'm saying that beacause i love survival games but it's really hard to find a game who isn't just a reskin, i really want to play this game with my friend but we don't want to be bait in because it's lotr. does the game have some mechanics that are unique? does is it at least really well crafted? or is it just another basic survival games with the hook being it's lotr?

like, ark got the dinosaur tamming, green hell got the more realistic approach this kind of things that can make a game unique

tbh no! I play a lot of survival games, this one kinda cool, but fighting techniques pretty primitive.

Well crafting is rather primitive too. And progress curve is bad after the point one's reach the Lower Deep.
Up to the Elven Quarter and Mines of Moria there're plenty of new weapons, armor an food to craft and try - and one having fun for about 20-40 hours with new stuff and progression.
Starting from the Lower Deep it's a kind of pain - looking for the receipt and/or resources to craft the only item needed to progress, changing weapon/armor tier once in ~30 hours and stick with a mushroom stew and roasted meat.
Still the game is pretty attractive cos of it's casuality ;)

Exploration in sandbox mode is great. The map is totally different and probably unique because of the seed generation. It is the best dungeon crawler form of exploration.

PLUS you are a Dwarf reclaiming the ancient home, the FIRST home of the first born, Durin.
Very big if you know anything about Middle Earth.

Strongly disagree, but thats just my opinion, as that is yours.

In it's current state, no. If the game opens up to mods, I think it will become MUCH better.

I agree with Ttandc, i also wished for a "small modding support". There are many things that i would like to see in the game, and that would be possible through modding. The thing is: did the devs every said they are gonna, at least, look into modding? Or is the answer i've found the discord the only one being: "we do not condone nor support modding"? Cause if the answer is this last one then i doubt we'll ever see mods

I just finished it after 60h and loved it, yes there's issues, but the experience was well worth it
