Campaign vs sandbox

Are there recipes that only exist in sandbox? And some that are only in campaign
Is a characters known recipes determined but the world they are in or can I go to a sandbox learn the recipes then start a new campaign with some recipients already known?

Yes, sandbox mode has more armor types, mostly Tier 1 and 2. more hat types.
The recipes are part of the world, not the character. I brought my campaign character that had finished the campaign to a new sandbox and had to relearn all recipes.
