I wanted to ask what gold coins are for

you can use the gold coins to craft treasure pile, and if you put any treasures like diamonds etc... you'll get buffs for like mining or something. but you need 250 gold coins to craft the treasure pile

You can gain a buff that increases the damage you deal to orcs by crafting piles of treasure and putting things in there like precious stones.

Also, coins can be used to unlock cosmetics in the wardrobe, which allow you to change your outfit's visuals regardless of what you're actually wearing.

You can also use a higher grade furnace to turn Gold Coins into Gold Ingots.

Yup, you turn gold into coins. Not found any reverse methode.
