Beginners Question: Camps
Does it make any sense to invest lots of time and ressources in building one large basecamp or does the exploring favour lots of smaller camps all over the map?
I would prefer building one nice elaborate structure over time, but I also know that I would get frustrated If that would force game progress to a snails pace because of walking distances and storyelements that might render the effort useless.

i right now am using one big main base with smaller camps with some basic supplies, like food and to repair equipment, spread throughout and that has been working for me. just watch out for base raids. luckily with me the raids have focused on only my main base

thanks - that leads quite to the next question: what structures you placed will get destroyed and wich will be left unharmed - Will enemys tear down walls?

I didn't feel the need to place down a big base until I got to the 4th area (lower descent).

Once you’re into the mines of Moria themselves, you’ll start to access fast travel. It tires you a bit, but it does let you cover any distance quickly. Typically I have one large base that I sometimes move deeper when I need to expand it, preferring to just make a newer one than rebuilding the old. Still, you make smaller camps out and about to rest at and can build small storage there to make fast travel runs back and forth from as they fill up.

One large base does definitely work though.

As for raids, a sort of cheese strat I’ve discovered is to build your big base one tile off from one of the camps you can repair. Repair the camp, then ignore it and build in an adjacent tile. What tends to happen in my experience, is that raids prioritize the other camp, but because of the distance, the AI doesn’t actually break that base. Means that you can just ignore raids and nothing really comes of it.
